Quick review of the 9 Watt submersible UV generic sterilizer & replacement bulbs

Nope i never got the correct bulbs or heard another word from the seller. This would be some much easier if the seller of the UV would sell replacement bulbs as well.

Well don't forget to file a Paypal refund and leave negative feedback, its what I will be doing if I don't get an answer soon.

The units themselves featured in this thread work great being all-in-one self contained submersible with a relatively strong fully adjustable multi-directional power-head streaming out bubbles for light aeration operating and indication along with UV lens to see that the plug-in bulb is working (no need to check). Jut one water-proof wire leaves the tank and one 9W UV running only 12/7 runs my tanks below 120 gallons and running 24/7 for my 210 and 160 tanks work great provided I can find a seller that sells working bulbs lol. When they bulbs fail about every 6 to 12 months the algae takes off and grows super rapidly. I can no longer recommend the seller of the bulbs however which have nothing to do with the unit becasue this is the 2nd time someone including myself has been sent the wrong bulbs after specifically requesting and being assured the correct part number. Prior to this I always got working bulbs and good service but now for some reason they are not only sending the wrong bulbs. Just got an email from the seller that its the suppliers fault they thought we use 220V here in the USA. So perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel we'll see, Id be happy with just a refund minus the shipping at this point. Anyone know any sellers that sell UV bulbs factory marked ZW9D12W-H145 ?

As far as Canister filters with built in UV I don't thing restriction would play a significant role. For me I like to keep these two technologies separate so that I can easily and quickly observe and replace a UV bulb at the convenient waterline without having to bend down, disturb, take off line, or remove a heavy canister filter just to replace a bulb.

Thanks for the responce, and I get ya on the ease of use. For my own situation I might go with one in the filter since it would be less clutter in the tank but I will look into these stand-alone units further. The price is certainly attractive.

Did you ever get the correct bulbs that works? If its any consolation I just received 4 more and have the same issue. I diden't receive bulb's "ZW912W-H145" as advertised and as specifically requested on eBay message before making the purchase for which I was given a confirmation email that they are in fact that same correct bulb. But Instead I received 4 bulbs marked without the correct part number and instead marked 220V-9W with a paper sticky, and of course none of them work. So now I have to see if Im paying the price for speaking up. Will post you know what this eBay vendor does.
Well after the seller responded blamed his supplier, blamed the USA uses 120V vice 220V, and asked me not to use the resolution process I decided to try for the first time in 13 years to file a complaint for refund. Turns out that I may have to ship the non-working items back to Hong Kong with a shipper that can provide a valid tracking number like UPS. So the cost for required shipping back which is not refundable, will cost me about the same as the entire purchase including the much cheaper postal shipping (non-tracking) it cost to receive the item. So the lesson that may be learned here is that the buyer protection is only viable if the item is shipped nationally, expensive enough to outweigh non-refundable return tracked shipping cost. Nothing but top rated non-international purchases for me from now on because for me it is pretty clear that buyer protection is more process then refund. Albeit the $40 is not as important to me as true buyer protection and there are other national bodies I can petition if this is not resolved fairly.

Update...I found out through some research that if an item is bought and the funds to pay for that item were directly drawn from your bank account (not a balance with the vendor or pay service), that regardless of any buyer protection process requirements, you have fraud protection under FTC law just like when you use a credit card and that there is no obligation for the buyer to pay any return shipping cost because it is the sellers responsibility to provide return shipping for bad items. So if you ever make a purchase with a credit, debit, or funds are directly taken from your bank from an internet pay service, you have strait forward non-hoop jumping rights that require no further cost on behalf of the buyer when items received are bad through your bank and FTC rules. However if you paid with an existing balance within the vendors internet pay service, your at the mercy of their system which is outside FTC rules. The money was taken directly from my bank so I have already placed everyone involved on notice and will be contacting my bank for an immediate refund and investigation if I don't get timely results. Thought this info would be helpful.

Thank you for the source, always good to have one that comes highly recommended. But like someone chatting with me on eBay community forum pointed out, sticking to national sellers with 99+ reputation will steer me clear of the buyer protection maze which gives sellers 7 days to respond with an email but only 3 days for protected buyers to respond with reshipping the item back to the seller with added cost of tracking numbers at buyers underfunded expense . But that's why its called buyer protection becasue they got you covered.

I used to purchase a lot from eBay. Even after I got cheated by one seller. Then I got cheated by another seller and neither eBay or PayPal would help because the shipper had followed their rules.
