Returning to Fish keeping with Fluval Edge

I see. So, what veggie would you recommend bating them with and how would one do this? Have a 50% water change tomorrow, guessing that will be a good time to pluck as many as I can out.

And as far as feeding goes, should I stop feeding twice a day and just feed once?

Thanks in advance.

Is it just CPDs in there still? I've never kept them, but can't imagine they need twice-daily feeding. Once should be enough I would think.

I've never done the bait method personally, but heard it works. I think lettuce or something else leafy would work well.

You can also look at an assassin snail or two. They'll eat pest snails, and will happily eat algae when snails aren't available. They reproduce pretty slowly, so their population is easier to control, plus any offspring will have people waiting to take them off your hands, I'm sure.

Wow thanks authmal. Hope these punks aren't too big already. Will definitely opt for this method - time to call Ed and tell him to place an order.

And scavenge. They'll scavenge as well. They're pretty nifty, and they're actually some of the prettier snails I've seen.

Keep in mind that assassins will group hunt to take down larger snails...and potentially go after shrimp as well. MsJinkzd has a photo of an assassin snail chomping on a shrimp, and while it's possible the snail happened on the shrimp already dead, it's also possibly the shrimp was killed by the snail.

And, if you sell plants out of that tank AT ALL, make sure you warn people they could get assassin eggs.
