this thread is amazing.

such great work and patience in something of this magnitude and the details are fabulous.

Good luck with that anemone and keep up the pictures...video would be pretty awesome.

thanks for the kudos:drool:
not much has changed, the plants and animals are doing well.
The crabs annoy me though because they are so stupid! the shrimps seem bright and are tame, but the crabs behave like little morons.
I thought crabs were smart as far as arthropods went... not these ones.
When I get around to it I'll get the purple crab that I said I would.
Then I will post more pics(maybe a video if the new crab is trainable)

I had the chance to get the crab that I built this thing for today.
It was a beaut too, but I had to pass, as it was far to aggressive and powerful for this vivarium.
At the moment I'm 30/70 keeping it salt or changing it to freshwater.
Salt water creates a few problems with the plants and mosses when the crabs come out and drip over them. the crabs also like to nibble the ferns.
plus water changes are more of an issue with salt water.
Also the pump died last night, which would have been a disaster if I didnt have a spare handy.
Im thinking newts would be cool, plus with fresh water the mosses would grow much better and it could grow right down to the waters edge. id have to reduce the current though.

here are a few pics i took today

new wee hermit crab

bigger hermit crab. Unfortunately I think it could be pistol food tonight.

mosses are doing good on the background but they suffer from salt burn near the water

tank today. I think its looking ok, but it would look a lot better with moss growing down to the water.

Im thinking of building a bigger, better, outdoor crabitat with a sump, skimmer and swamp chiller
So stay tuned...

MAn that is so awesome. THat is one of the neatest ideas ive ever seen in a vivarium. AWESOME job. I was a little skeptical when i first saw this then i was flabergaster at how awesome it is!!!:grinyes:
