Cool fish. A species I've never seen.

WYite
I may have other species unusual too, as ive got quite a few cories :p

Nice, Noodle! I think I see 1 female but I can't tell who all are in the different pics. What's your guess? Or maybe they're still growing? I'm glad you're getting more!
2 males 2 females in this group! They're full grown, larger than I expected. The females are chonkers
I'm glad I'm getting more too, though my wallet is not lol these are probably the most expensive fish I've ever purchased. But, I love cories so much, and these are hard to come by. And they are bold and active enough to be kept species only and still have the tank look appealing.

At the same time, it is a bit bittersweet. I placed the order for these guys last Friday, intended on putting them in my 55 blackwater with my aeneus and sterbai... but my area changed the pH and wiped out my nano tank without me knowing beforehand. I lost all my microdevario kubotai, and 15 out of my 17 pygmy corydoras. I moved the 3 surviving pygmies to the 55 with the other cories instead so they won't be by themselves at least. And my sparkling gouramis are all in my 10 gallon species only too. That left the 20 open, since I moved the pygmies. So these guys are in the 20 newly set up, species only instead of going where they were planned to go.

is that tannins or the color of the light?
Tannins! Though the fish are orange and black-green

Some photos from later this evening as they've darkened up.

Interesting idea. You do realize that the dry and rainy seasons may not follow the same calendar in the wild as they do where you live? When I researched this for some of the plecos I have, I discovered that the onset of the rainy season depends upon where in Brazil one is. And true to my habit, here is a paper on this subject

I can tell how much you love keeping cory. But did you also know that cory adore us? :p

Oh no I know the seasons are flipped, fall/winter tend to be the rain season down there generally. But im gonna read through that report and see if I can find the area for the eques rainy season time and time it for that. Thanks for the info! Whether it helps for now, or something for later, love to read new stuff.

And ah good pun!

December to May is the rain season for the area eques are from (near Manaus), so thats perfect. Which works perfect for here as May it starts getting warmer and thats when the tanks all warm up and by June I'm shutting all the heaters off and still have warm tanks lol so that coincides perfect with that.

Also, bookmarking that study. Its quite interesting and very handy

I always judge cory keepers by the length of the barbels on the fish. Yours always look excellent.

The other thing that gets me going re corys is when you get to see them in large groups. It's like tetras. You never know how amazing they truly are until you see a big group. Unfortunately, i have never had more than 10-12 corys of the same species at once. I have had as many as 60 cardinals in a 75 gal.

I hope you can come by a bunch more of these guys over time. They look lovely and more would be amazing to see in your pictures.
