Hello all,

Newbie here. Hoping I am posting in the right forum...
I purchased a betta fry from Petco 2 weeks ago and it is currently in a heated 1-gallon tank (he/she will be moved into a 2.5 gallon within the next two weeks). I have never owned a betta fry so I am excited to find out its sex. I have done some research (google surfing) and was still confused so I would like any help I could get.
I am estimating that the fry is around 9 weeks old, and seems to have an ovipositor (but I also read that male juveniles could also have them?). I have also observed lots of growth in its ventral and anal fins these past two weeks.
Any ideas on its age and sex are much appreciated.
It seems to be about 1.3 inches long now.

Thank you in advance:)

Does not look like a Betta Splenden, but could be just an ordinary female.

I have observed the ventricle fins and it seems like it is a male. Have you seen an egg spot? Also looks a bit like a female. I bought a betta fry from petco and on the cup it said female. Did yours say any thing like that.
