I know right! They ROCK! One of my blues just messed her spiral up parasnailing. So I'm going to have to epoxy it back before she breaks it completely off and dies.
My big DSP seems to think he can climb skinny stem plants and I've witnessed him fall a couple of times- after losing his sibling in the mail due to serious shell damage (grrrr USPS grrrr) I'm paranoid he'll suffer a similar fate (although not in the mail but on a slate cave) so far no injuries thankfully. He needs to stay healthy so he can mate with the little ivory girl I got for him when she grows a little.
Oh and back Regarding spixis again- what about applesnail.net
I am trying to raise a few spixis now and will be able to trade them to others in IL. My little ones do chew a bit on broadleaf plants like lotuses but they don't really do much damage. When a leaf started looking really chewed up I just prune it off. They don't seem to touch mosses or grasses.

My magenta does a LOT of parasnailing, and there's an ornament in that tank that worries me. I'd love to put it in the planted tank, but for some reason all 3 briggs I've ever had in that tank have died. No clue why, the magenta seems happy and healthy in the 5 gallon.
