So much for reestablishing my tank....

FYI: The pH range for White Clouds is 6.0 - 8.0. Also, they prefer temperatures in the low 70s at the maximum. So your tank is on the edge of their requirements.

ok.....just got back from lfs. they replaced the white clouds (30 day guarantee). I have them tempurature acclimating right now. getting ready to add about 1/4 tank water to the bag. the light is off by the way.

also conducting another test. i filled one of my jugs up with water (untreated) and tested it. here are the numbers for plain ole water:

ph ~ 6.0 (maybe a tick over - shade of yellow is really light)
nh3 ~ 0
no3 ~ 0
no2 ~ 0
gh ~ 0
kh ~0

very interesting numbers yes?
kH and gH = 0....thats low!...wonder whats causing it ti be so acidic

one more tid bit...well is a shallow well....probably about 70-80ft deep.

so mixing some crushed coral into the existing gravel would be a bad idea? i thought this would be a good natural way to keep ph up. <ducks for cover> don't beat me up too bad.

you have odd well water, I recommend letting it sit for a while, see if that changes your numbers.

adding coral will make your pH jump only to have it crash after the buffer wares off. very very stressful for fish, they can't adapt to large pH swing in a short amount of time.

Doing that would help raise your ph,.....

I use cc because of our low ph, and its a stays around 7.6-7.8....:)

tank is 80% due to latest rounds of wc's. last wc involved about 80%. still brewing a few more jugs to add to it tomorrow.
