So what DO you drive??

I'm an urban girl, I take the train. We live across from a subway station, take public transit everywhere - we don't own a car because it's so expensive and really impractical where we live. I do wish I could drive sometimes though (I'm epileptic and can't get a license because of that). If ever you guys are cursing, stuck in a traffic jam, be happy you're not sitting between someone with B.O. and someone else with morning breath on a train full of angry commuters :)
TTC= Take The Car or Take The Cab.
Ride the red rocket! Binky, do they still have the old red subway cars?

Ha ha :)
Actually some of the subway cars, streetcars and buses now are completely covered with ads - it's like one giant poster wrapped around the vehicle. I'm sure the system is just as *ahem* lovely as you remember it ;)

How is it poorly designed? I've seen how its boxer engine works and know now how it helps with the 50/50 front/rear balance... its a pretty smart and efficient design. The suspension and always be replaced and tuned with an aftermarket one in case some people one like it. Its interior isn't filled with too many luxuries since they only cost 19k-32k(give or take a few thousand). My brother is planning to get one(not the STi version, just the standard turbocharged version) and hes getting crazy over it. His friend used to own one... but he crashed it in the montains :( . I'm not trying to make a big argument, its just that I love the WRX more than the Mazda 3, and I'd rather compare it with the RX-8.

And to answer the original thread topic- I don't drive yet, but my choice for a first car would be between the Prius hybrid, 97-98 twin turbo Supra targa top, or a Ram 3500 Cummins 600 dually(I love diesels now) :D .

Joe- Lets just hope that BMW will bring theirs to the US :D.

The esthetics on the car are horrible, I didn't mean engine design. The WRXs are great cars from a tuning/mechanical point of view. But both the inside and outside were really badly designed.

And, after Subaru gave free 1 year memberships to the SCCA to people who bought them, only to go to the SCCA track events, photograph their plates, and then deny them warranty when they went to service was shady enough to keep me from supporting them. Mitsubishi did a similar thing as well with their Evos.

One of my favorite parts of the subway system was the ear piercing squeal of the steel wheels as they made the turn from the Yonge line to the University line. Better than a cup of coffee first thing in the morning.

I never thought I'd do it.....

So now I have to update in this thread... I am no longer driving my 1999 Subaru Outback Sport Wagon. I've gone MINIVAN. It's so sad, but oh so cushy too! :D We just bought a 2005 Chevy Venture! I have my two girls, ages 4.5 and 22 months, and I also watch a 2 year old boy, my Godson, 3 or 4 days a week. I needed a bigger vehicle since 3 carseats do not fit in the backseat of the Subaru.

I never thought I'd be a minivan driving surburban living Mom, but here I am! And I gotta say, there is nothing like dual power sliding doors and 4 captains chairs! One push of a button, I can throw the kids in and I'm off in a flash! Ok, not really a flash... 43 carseat buckles to fasten can slow anyone down... :thud:

:dance

aknif, funny you should say that. When our younger next door neighbours first moved in, they swore up and down that they would never drive a minivan. Not only do they own one now, but they just recently bought a 10-seat-full-size-extended-length passenger van.

De Nile is not just a river in Egypt... :thud:

1997 F 250 Hd 4/wd Deisel. 310,000 miles and counting (I get paid mileage and I'm greedy) this summer I'll probably take the plunge for an F350 diesel

My Wife drives a 99 Expedition, and someday soon I hope a BMW sedan (probably the 740 or similar).

Rumor has it that Toyota will be coming out with a 3/4 ton diesel next year so I may hold out. I hate to give up my Fords, but I've never heard a complaint from a Toyota owner.
