Stability???

Any product that claims magical properties is subject to the same skepticism as any magic product. If the claims are simply made that a product is better than any others available, it is a bald faced lie. If it makes claims that seem reasonable, it is probably not true but at least they give you enough information to refute the claims. Those claims need to be explored by people knowledgeable in the process, whatever it is, that they claim to short circuit. The final condition is that enjoyed by people like Biospira before they went out of production. The reality was that their product actually worked. In our modern tanks we need to remember that although Biospira worked a few years ago, there is no comparable product available today so the claims are all false. That means that anything you add to "accelerate" your cycle are nothing more than snake oil.
BS is still BS.

BioSpira isn't gone. It's just available under a new name... or rather names. http://www.DrTimsAquatics.com, the public site for Dr. Tim's One And Only, the improved version of BioSpira. See my other posts for more info about what happened to the original BioSpira... but the improved version is MUCH improved.

It's junk IMO read the sticky about fishless cycling or get some established media from you local fish store (lfs)

You do mean Stability... right? I'm only clarifying since your reply was right under mine about Dr. Tim's One And Only product. I realize you didn't quote me so you are answering the original poster but I just wanted to clarify. :P

I've tested stability , along with several other products. The heterotrophs in stability can help break down the materials used in the cycling process, but if you are expecting it to magically cycle your tank in a week, don't hold your breath. Tetra SafeStart has been very successful, but even it has its flaws, but the good news is that it is now readily available at most PetSmart locations.

One other source I've used with great success is a pre-seeded sponge filter from www.angelsplus.com . I've tested their filteres twice with a fish-in cycling application and both never showed signs of ammonia/nitrites with modest bioloads.

I prefer to keep my $'s for fishies....fishless cycle or media transfer....

:iagree:
The last tank I cycled was done with a raw shrimp. I don't know if my results are typical or not but it was fully cycled in about a week and a half.

Patience is key to success in this hobby and IMO, a couple of weeks is not too long to wait.

I add prime to my water for the chlorine but would never trust any of those instant cycle products to cycle my tank.

Oops... I just realized I erroneously referred to SafeStart as RightStart. Blame it on a Brain Fart since I'm not old enough to have Senior Moments yet.
