Started Mini Bow 2.5 Pico Reef!

is there any cheap place to find live rock??? I have a 2.5 gal sitting around also, and i always wanted to have a sw tank, mainly reef, not as much the fish. But fish are nice though!!!!

Oh can't stop without saying LOOKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!

I have had more than one FW tank, I only have one at the moment though. I have had aquariums for 4 yrs, I understand they aren't cheap. Yes I understand that they aren't a begginer project, but I have a freind down the street who is like a SW guru, he has agreed to sort of "mentor" me.

I don't know. A lot of people order rock online, but someone gave me all my rock so I never had to actually buy any.

Keep in mind as well that the 2.5 gallon pico is not really a beginner project.
True, but it was a beginner project for me. It can be done if you are willing to research and give the tank daily attention, and test the water a lot! I probably wouldn't have felt comfortable starting this tank if I hadn't been able to work at a LFS and gotten some experience there, though. For someone with absolutely no experience, you're right that it generally isn't the best way to get into the hobby. :) I've been pleased with how it's gone for me, and I really have enjoyed this project.

update? lol.

Something I've learned about this hobby...if you want to go cheap you're probably in the wrong hobby.

isn't that the truth. I managed to blow through $300 in the last 3 days on a a humu trigger, a nice piece of galaxea coral, uhhh some unidentified other coral - perhaps a lobed brain coral which my LFS guy told me was an absolute steal but he used a different name - as well as some xenia on a rock with my first and only aiptasia waiting to get killed as soon as I find a syringe. We won't even talk about how much I spent in the last 4 months when I already had the existing tanks which I upgraded equipment . . . :headbang2:
