Starting up Saltwater! Woo!

That is one cool tank, the LR is very alive :) I like the way the blue wall looks as a background, to bad the filter gets in the way. But thats just life for ya! Good Luck with the corals!

Thanks guys. I will buy background soon. I didn't swap the impeller actually :) the two baffles you can see using the sides of the basket slow the flow down more than enough.

And I have quite a bit of diatoms now... Sigh

Awww, it's ok they will go away Hay!!

Wow...thats quite the rhyming sentence there!

Haha, well lots of brown algea now... Should I buy some snails to help clean it up?

can you get pics? Could be diatoms or the other one (Dino-something). Dino is bad, really bad, diatoms is just ugly, its a sign your tank is cycling, unless I'm getting it confuzled with something else. If diatoms, it should go away as your tank stabilizes.

Sorry, missed your post. I think its diatoms... I'll have a research. Some of the gravel has brown algea strands coming from it though. Is that diatom like? Well the cycle is complete (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 2-5ppm nitrate.) I added some red morph mushrooms today. I used rubber bands to try tie them to rocks but some still come loose. Awell.

Diatoms are almost like a dust covering. If you run your fingers through it, it will fall apart really easily and blend into the sand. Dinos are snotty and stringy.

Both will disipate after lights go out and come back after a few hours of the lights coming on. Both will also have tiny air bubbles on them but dinos more so.

oh really? im not sure. maybe i have both? cause there are some stringy bits but it does wipe off really easy. i hope it goes away as the tank matures. thanks :)
