hi everybody!

im having a little trouble stocking my parents 150 gallon tank.
at first, they wanted goldfish
next, they wanted convicts
now, they want a plain ol' community tank

i never had a community tank, so i have no clue how to stock it.

all i know is that there will be clown loaches, AND, the fish need to live an average of 5+ years.

well of course its not just clowns....

i need recommendations for other fish.

I still vote for rainbowfish :)

a 150 is not big enough for a group of 5 clown loaches. you would need at least 180 gallons for them.

you could have a school of 6 angels and some larger tetras like black skirts, red eyes or daimonds, and then some corydoras and flagtail catfish. pearl gouramis will make nice edidtions to that tank also.

o wait. nevermind about my second post. i found info about each picture in a small caption.

thanks for your help anyway

FYI, The list you linked to is wrong in SOOOO many places it's not eveny funny. The majority of aquarium fishes, even neons probably, will live atleat 5 years, many, many even longer if conditions are right, meaning that you don't overstock, very rarily miss water changes, don't put them in an uncycled tank, and water quality stays good at all times. The list you linked to is more like what usually happens (in sub-par conditions).

'nother FYI, I really don't think even a 180 isn't big enough for 5 full grown clowns (not even sure the glass will hold them if they ram into the glass at full speeed).

What I would do in that tank is several (6-9) discus, accompanied by a schools of 30+ cardinals and ottos, as well as a few other fish that you might want to throw in (eg. maybe some livebearers, B. splendens, corydoras, certain plecos, etc.).

thank you dorkfish. the discus are nice, especially the orange kind.
im pretty sure my parents would be satisfied with the look of it.

about the clown loaches, i guesss i mixed em up with cory's.

fish list:
7 discus
25 neons/cardinals
6 cories
2 or 3 pleco

is this too much?
