:help: My other guppy was giving birth and had about 25 babies. They kept coming out tail first. After watching tons of babies come out i finally had to leave for a couple hours. When I came back however, there was still a tail sticking out and the same number of babies! I can still see babies through her gravid spot and she is still fat! Unlinke the other guppy yesterday who gave birth, after she was completely flat and still is.

I am pretty sure that a baby is stuck in her which is blocking the way for the others!!!

I DON'T know what to do!!!!!!! SOMEONE PLEEEASSSEE HELP ME!! ASAP :help:

ThanX I TRULY appreciate it!!...I really hope this doesn't cause any death of the mother or her remaining fry.

PLEASE keep in mind that I have no experience with guppies giving birth, other than the occasional "hello" that I get from my 14 cent guppies, but my best guess would be to try and ease it out with tweezers? Again, I don't know any of this for sure, it's just a guess.

How do you tell when the guppy is about to give birth? Both of my adults appear to be pregnant.

I don't know how to help her without killing it! It's just the tail sticking out..and it's been like this for about 2 hours now! :(

You can tell when your guppy is pregnant because the gravid spot located near its tail is really dark..and near time its about to give birth within a couple days before they get almost squarish on their stomachs, very fat, and the gravid spot looks red you can see the babies eyes through the gravid spot when they hatch inside of her! Because guppies are almost see through...good luck with your guppies!

Add 1 cup of epsoms salt per 10gal to the water. DO NOT try to help her give birth to the fry, you will most certainly end up causing internal damage to her and may end up killing her. She may infact die from this, but just let her be and add the epsom salt.

nataku..yeah what is the reasoning? What will salt cause?...Also..what IS epsom salt? Can I use regular salt like the salt in the kitchen..or maybe if I have any aquarium salt left?

I'm assuming the epsom salt will help ease stress, and may help relax the mother's system to help ease the baby out naturally. Epsom salts can help with suspected consitpation, this situation would be similar.

Are you sure it's a tail though? When I observe my platy dropping fry, sometimes the way the mother's tissues are give the illusion that another fry is dropping...it can take a little bit of time for her to return to normal.

I am sure it's a tail..ALL her babies came out tail first at one point I thought i saw two tails @ once but THREE came out at one time!!..This is why I think now it's stuck...Even if it's not a tail (which i doubt) something is still blocking the opening for the babies!...Because she is still plump and round and I can still see some through her gravid spot...My other guppies that gave birth were EXTREMELY flat after they were done.
