Sunlight’s other tank journal (20g version)

My semicinctas loved floating or long stem plants! They weren't too big on caves (wood or rock), neither were oblongas. I had some , they didn't care. I didn't try leaves with mine, but they might like them & the goodies that grow on them. Worth a try, they won't hurt anything...except maybe tiny shrimplets...I saw no issues...

Just called my local pet store, they’ve got khulies! Headed to go pick some up soon :) if there’s anything else that catches my eye (amanos, another male guppy, etc) I might also come home with them too

I got them! They only had the oblongas, which was totally cool with me. They also only had 6, which was lucky. Apparently they come in on fridays and sell like hot cakes. Here they are! You guys see anything wrong with them? The gills on some look kinda red to me.

the rock pile behind Comet(my orange guppy) is where they decided their HQ is... hehe

If they came in yesterday, they sure did a lot of traveling and adjusting this week, just wait and keep an eye on them if something develops.

As I recall my oblongas' gills were always kind of red. Like tl said keep an eye on them & your ammonia. Any loachy dancing up & down the glass yet? Mine did that often & always after a water change.

Sounds good! They’re slowly becoming more and more friendly... most are knotted together under that rock and 2 are exploring the back of the tank. I’m about to add a bunch of tannins and leaf litter to see if that interests them any.

Go slow with changing their water chemistry...like tl said they've been through a lot in a week or 2...I'm glad they becoming more people friendly! Mine were not too much :( but my semis had me spoiled, lol!

Lol for friendly loaches you should try weather loaches (though they're probably banned in CA?) they are even more friendly as guinea pigs and other rodents.

No, dojos are legal in CA, but not in MA where I used to live...& I actually have a tank they could live in...or a swimming pool, if my husband was willing to "swim with the fishes"...he's not, dojos or koi...lol, still working on that!!
