Hi everyone, this is my 10 gallon nano tank!

I have another one of these journals for this tank on the other forum. That one started way back when I first got this tank in 2018. I figured why not make another one of these just for funsies.

It houses my male betta, Reggie, who I bought this tank for

He is two years old now. Although I love Reggie, my favorite critter is my African dwarf frog Eddie

He is quite the hoot. He also thinks he is a great singer and sings all night long every night. Love him. Finally, I have my nerite named Eggs cause that’s all she does.

My pH out the tap is 6.6, but I run a DIY CO2 system and have tannins so it’s probably lower. No one seems to mind.

My light is the finnex 24/7 light and works wonderfully. Can’t seem to program it very good though. My lid is a DIY one my dad and I made two christmases ago. I’ll make a separate post about my CO2 system later, since I don’t have very many pictures of it yet.

And that’s my tank! Love it to death. Good thing to keep me occupied with during quarantine.

I have to say, i like the algae growing on your floating log. Makes it look even more natural.

This is a very nice tank.
Thank you!! I’ve contemplated attaching moss to it before but never got around to it. That might be a fun little quarantine project.

The algae on it is Blackbeard algae, so I guess it’s not going anywhere even if it wanted it to. Haha

Thank you for the compliments! That means a lot coming from you, I love your tanks!

A good morning from Mr. Eddie, who popped his head out angrily for turning the lights on this morning. This will be a long post, btw.

For anyone who is into the more technical side of things, here’s how I keep this tank going...

CO2-

My CO2 is run via a DIY kit I got for Christmas off of amazon for like $20 USD. It comes with just the blue attachment with the knobs and the white tubing/magnet that go down in the bottles. It’s got a knob to turn it on/off, a pressure meter, and a release valve if the pressure is too high.

You set the tube with the magnet into the citric acid bottle, and the other in the baking soda bottle (the instructions tell you how to make the mixtures). Then you prime it and the chemical reactions make CO2 continuously until it runs out. It takes about a month I’ve noticed. The CO2 feeds into my bubble counter, which goes to my diffuser. I do like 1.5-2 bps.

Also wanted to show my drop checker which I just refilled this morning so the color isn’t as light as it really should be. You can see my whisper filter behind my diffuser, which I use polyfil and regular sponge in. I also use pothos in my tank to help keep the water nice. I can go quite a while between water changes, but I prefer to do 1-2 per week because I think they are fun

You can see my DIY lid there too. And finally is my 50 watt heater.

That’s everything! I might make a separate post about my fishy organization drawer that holds all my stuff in it.

I really like this tank, don't know if you noticed it but you have patches of Cyanobacteria ("blue green algae") here and there, I recommend to siphon those off to keep them in check...
