SUNSUN HW-302 Outside Filter setup & test

How has it been working CWO4GUNNER?

Has it still been doing a good job?

Been busy restoring that CL 93 acrylic tank cabinet, how the days fly when your having fun.

The Sunsun! Have to admit that for a $43 inline stacked media canister it been silently doing an outstanding job. I mean my Fluval 404's in their stacked canister configuration never filtered as well as the Sunsun, not even close to be honest.

I got the Sunsun with the intent of replacing my Fluval 404's I was going to sell, however deciding to try and modify them into large capacity polishing carts I must admit that the unexpected performance of the "404 Super-Cart" is astonishing and will definitely be placing both my 404's back into service as Super-Cart polishers one for my 244 tank and one for my new CL 93 tank. This leaves me with my two Magnum 350's servicing my 60 tanks and so now the Sunsun is odd filter without a home.

I plan to place the Sunsun back into storage until I build my pond and utilize one of my four FX5's to filter the pond, at that point the Sunsun will be needed and placed back into service probubly on my 60 tank. But for good as the Sunsun works for a stacked canister, it takes precedence behind all my other circumference filters (Mags, FX5s and Super-Carts).

But Hay fort anyone who wants a stacked canister I think Sunsun with its large format and tight fitting media is the way to go, which is why I'm keeping mine for later use, its earned my respect.

Would the Sunsun 302 be overkill on my 29g tank? I know you can't have too much filtration, but what about too much flow?

I have the 302 on my 30 gallon and it is not too much flow. The spray bar when fully extended does a great job dispersing the flow. I shortened the spray bar but I have tried it both ways.

I should note that the tank is still cycling so there are no fish in it but I am very confident that the flow will not be too much at all when I do put fish in it.

My Sunsun 302 instantly cycled my new 100 acrylic tank along with help from my modified Fluval404 (Super-cart). Together they instantly cycled the tank which contained new sand. I say this becasue my large 4" feeder Goldie didn't bat an eye and the ammonia (0) and nitrate (10) levers never got above safe readings. The best thing is the Sunsun has a large format but still fits inside the older aquarium cabinet 9.5" small doors.

For $58 shipped how can you possibly go wrong.
