Swordfish?

Well its my time to make an apology. To all involved in this post and any who have or will read it. Yes I am Australian and proud of it. I am not an " anti-american" and didnt intend to slander its culture. You are a fine proud people and although many do find that pride sometimes arrogant, i shouldnt have taken a stab at all Americans with such a generalisation. That was me being sarcastic. Amazing that sarcasm can rile people up so much.

I appologise for my crase use of curse words in my response. I was extremely angry, overreacted, typed and posted before I had actually thought of what I had written. I have children with disabilities and I get extremely aggrevated when i percieve people taking the mickey out of someone. We had a really bad week. Yes I have issues and i shouldn't have let them air in this forum. That isnt a cop out. I do take full responsibilty for my actions and appologise to those i have offended.

I will refrain from posting further comments in the future. I shall read posts and glean whatever information I can without commenting on others responses. I am happy to see that the origonal poster had indeed returned and was treated thhe way they should have in the first instance.

I was unaware of what the other posters referred to as trolling or troll posting. It is beyond me why someone would misrepresent themselves to annoy people they have little interest in. But then thats just the same as spamming isnt it and arent they annoying. I honestly thought they were always the same misinformed newbies asking the same questions. And i can understand why you longtime posters get riled. I like so many others didnt read the " read this first" sticky thread till alot later. i just cut to the chase.

If it had of been a post in the general freshwater section i would have shut my mouth. In the newbie section expect the same old questions.

Hey maybe you could have an automated response like the phone service. lol

{ see...lol...a joke...not serious }

OK I'll shut up now while I'm ahead. Hope i didnt offend anyone irrepairably. { is that a real word?}

Darlin', that would be "irreparably"--yes, it is a word. And congrats for coming back and apologizing/explaining--all of you--so often people show their butts, whereever, and can't be mature and realize when they've gone too far. Sounds like you have your hands full, too. Yup, the trolls really damaged this site, it hasn't been the same. I visit AquariumBoards, but since I cannot get a response from Roan as to why my registration won't complete, I don't go to AquaFacts. Coming into a site like this, especially if one has never used one before, can be intimidating--especially so since newbs have so very little, or incorrect experience. How to know what questions to ask? As DangerDoll pointed out, it's often an emergency situation, and they don't see the "stickies" which might initially help them.

I was not being disrespectful, I was pointing out that the tank already has major problems, and you should not add more fish. If you do not want honest answers or input, DON'T ASK. Just keep your head in the sand and buy 20 common plecos for your 30 gallon tank. Pretty simple. My post was not abrasive, nor was it insulting considering the question. I'll admit I'm being belittling and insulting now and I'm justified in doing so since you chose to take offense.

If the post/question was asked correctly there would have been no issue at all. So in essence, if "your daughter" cannot be expected to post a thread or question correctly, why is she posting at all? I submit that many of the "trolls" are kids that don't know any better. Does the lack of malice aforethought ruin the forum content any less?

As for the person who suggested people gas themselves, you need to go somewhere else too. I suggest MFK (see the banner at the top?), there's lots of immature "********s" who post over there too, you would be right at home.

Why start asking questions now that you already have a completely inappropriate stocking list?"

I think the sarcastic tenor there is what put her off, graphic. Remember, this is the newbie forum and everyone doesn't have the basic understanding from which to ask coherent questions. She obviously didn't know her stocking was incorrect. In stead of offering some suggestions you threw a couple comments at her and made her feel like crap. Not much has changed since your self-imposed exile, has it?

hey Karla,

what kind of puffer do you have? I am a puffer owner myself. I have F8's. I find that they r very smart and interactive lil fish.

Please, let's all try and be nice--both to newbies and to each other, eh? If you don't like someone, there's absolutely no reason to bring it up on the forums. We're here to HELP people, remember?

Hi lokel and everyone,

My puffer is a dwarf tiger, or at least that is what I was told. He/she is so cute. I love to watch her swim around the tank looking so happy, or at least I think that she looks very happy.

I would like some advice on how to divide my fish up that will make the best environments for each of the tanks (I am hoping to end up with 2 tanks unless I must absolutely must have more). My current fish are:

2 Bala sharks
2 orange tetras
1 betta
1 dwarf puffer
1 dwarf groumia
1 Angel Fish
1 Cat Fish
1 Pleco
1 japanese crawfish

They are currently in a 29 gallon tank and I have another 20 gallon tank that I can set up.

I also want to let everyone know how much I appreciate those that have understood why I was so shocked and upset by the first couple of responses. I do believe that most people are good people and sometimes we just meet them at bad times. I had to have a brain tumor removed in May so my tank has been a real source of joy for me since I returned home from the hospital. I have 3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Pixie Bob cats, a mutt, 4 goats and my fish. I love all of my animals and fish and really strive to take great care of them.

Thanks in advance,

Karla

hey there..

as for the bala sharks and the pleco (i'm assuming its a common pleco?) they would get way too large for your tanks, maybe you can find another home for these creatures..

good luck

sorry i can't be of help with the other fishes you have.. don't know much about them :)

HI Karla
Congratulations Karla on taking up this wonderful hobby and sticking with it. The most important thing about being new to the hobby is to read. Do not take advice from your lsf as gospel. Read as much as you can about everything. You have real spirit and although some here may be alittle insensitive to those of us less experienced they dont mean to be belittling. Do not be afriad to ask questions. I kept tropical fish for many years when i was young and now having come back to it I am amazed at how little I feel I really knew and sometimes feel embarrased at the sort of basic question I feel i should be asking. Sometimes on here we read the same questions over and over again but that is a good thing because by rereading things over that is how they sink in and stay in. If it means my fish are healthier then I will never stop asking questions and i know there are some wonderful people out there that will always help.

2 Bala sharks

They can easily grow to a foot or more if given a proper set up. I strongly advise taking them back to the fish store unless you want to buy a 125g + tank. But, they will get along with your other fish, except where noted.

2 orange tetras

Increase school size to about 6 and keep in 29g.

1 betta

Keep in 29g.

1 dwarf puffer

I would make the 20g a species tank for this guy. Freshwater puffers for the most part don't make good comunity fish. Remember to feed him small snails atleast once a week to keep his teeth worn down so you don't have to pay for/ give him dental work down the road.

1 dwarf gourami

Keep in 29g

1 Angel Fish

Keep in 29g

1 Cat Fish

By any chance do you know what species it is? Assuming it isn't a giant species like red tail or channel cat, leave in 29g.

1 Pleco

Assuming it's a common pleco (that's what a lot people who don't know enough to research thier fish seem to buy), these are huge fish, wich can reach 24" if properly housed, and will need at least a 280g to turn around when it gets to full size, and probably should be housed in a much biggger tank still. Your best bet is to return this fish to the fish store, to prevent yourself from having to deal with a stunted fish or getting a huge tank.

1 japanese crawfish

He/she should be seperated from any fish life, as they tend to like to snack on them. I would set up a 10g for him, if possible, or return him to the fish store.
