Symphysodon aequifasciatus (Discus)

Yeah me as well but these 7 were free so i could not pass them up..

Wow those look nice. If they weren't more delicate then I like I would of had some years ago.
Hey Gabe, if you keep them very warm (85F is nice), feed them several times a day with good food and change 1/3 of the tank a couple times a week Discus aren't delicate at all!
 
Mike, those are some great looking fish! What strain are they? How did you end up getting them for free? That's easily a few hundred dollars worth of fish you got there!

My parents had one several years back. It was a powder blue one but it eventually turned black then died. Since then I've decided to stay away despite me knowing way more about fish then they ever have. It just showed me how sensitive they are compared to other more robust cichlids like O's or Buttikoferi's (A favorite of my mom's).

Had one? Aren't they very social fish, needing others to not be stressed? If so, that could have been the problem right there.
