Tank Decor - Deer Antlers-

I really do think it could be done to look nice, with a natural river/lake bottom theme. Some plants and things like that would work, but I will agree that an empty Miller Light bottle would probably be the best addition to the tank as far as my friends are concerned. I might even do that without adding the antlers (since they might mess up the water). well, thanks for the feedback everybody, take it easy. I'm out!

Just make sure you send pictures!

If antlers could be used it would be sweet. I've looked for a long time for driftwood that was branchy, had a lot of them but not scraggly. Antlers fit the bill. They are branchy but organized. I think it would look awesome.

As for the RedNeck theme... I like the centerfold, skoal, beer can deco idea. But you can't forget to add the car on blocks! Also it has to be put in the middle of a patch of microsword.

i was thinking of doing a heavily planted 10 gal tank for my bro's gf's new betta... but on second thought we might have to go redneck on this b**ch! hahaha

and dont forget to half bury some model rubber tires in the gravel as well :dance2:

I just had an idea and wanted to hear some opinions. Has anyone ever done or heard of someone putting deer antlers in a tank for decorative purposes? Assuming it would not look completely tacky, do you think it would mess up the water chemistry? Would something like that decompose in the water more than driftwood? Thanks in advance.

As long as they are sealed they shouldnt cause any problems. The calcium in the antlers will make the water more alkaline...they would be perfect in an African Cichlid tank.

They have deer in Africa?

YEE-HAA!

Where's my 30-30?!

:) :) :)

What would be a safe method for sealing stuff like this?

What kind of sealant would work without changing the water chem? I wonder if the stuff they are already sealed with work without problems?
