I know I hate that gravel but it was the only gravel I had and now I'm working on getting black sandMolly I think it looks nice, until you get to the gravel..The plants look almost real with the picture you took. If that was a sand or something a little more natural looking that could pass for a real tank any day.
This is just proof that spcies specific water parameters are not as important as everyone says. A fish can live and thrive in almost any water parameters as long as water quality is kept well.
You can slowly acclimate almost any fish to any condition as long as it is done correctly. Another point is captive bred fish are much easier to keep in a wide range of parameters compared to wild caught species.
My angels I breed are kept at 6.5PH but the babies are grown out in 7.5-7.8 but are slowly acclimated to that range. And before I get flamed, I do this because the retainers I sell to do not change their entire rack system to meet the needs of one species.
