Three of the four Snails we got are dead or dieing. One is fine and moving around doing what snails do. I don't know what is going on. Why would one be fine and the others be dieing?

did you actually pick every each of them up and smell it? if they smell bad, they are dead

WAIT HOLD UP!! you still have .05 RITES!!!! your cycle isnt done or your test kits is showing errors

I thought that you were suppose to keep it under 10 and it was fine?

and i thaught all readings had to be 0.
new tank maybe they are starving?never know how much if any fed in LFS
i would put some food in for them .
I just went and spent almost 400 on LR ,and OMG its beautiful , pink, purple, red, orange , just awsome .wont be spending anymore now for a month or so ..........lol
Ihope we have critters to look at now lol.
but boy does it stink lol

Nitrates don't have to be 0, although that is ideal. Anything below 10 should be fine. They shouldn't be starving in less than a day though. Don't know what type of snails you got, but if they are Nas snails they may not like the sand since it is so new. They bury themselves in the sand.. and if something if foul about it right now they may not dive down. That pic doesn't look like a nas snail though.

LOL cool blab to hear your havin fun. There will be lots of life on them.I keep finding new stuff. I did put food in for them and I spot fed all of them last night. The snails never really did any thing there still just sitting were we droped them in. I have tryed to flip them over and they just roll back over. I think there just duds. The brittle star hasn't come out from were he ran since we put him in.

They said they were Cerith Snails. I looked up picture of Cerith Snails and they don't look like the ones we got.

Well, since I am still searching for a single Cerith snail in my area I can't say for sure what they look like. I have honestly never seen on in person. I have no idea why LFS in my area don't stock them.. its always Astrea/Turbo/Nassarius snails. Even scarlet hermits are rare in my area.

Ashlee got some hitch hiker snails when she got her LR and we have never seen them before. They do a great job on the glass and rock. They are shaped like a wide cone. near the top of the shell there is a opening whitch we saw yesterday that it was getting rid of waist threw. they are brown and have little fingers that are short and go all the way around the foot. They are very hard to pull off rock or glass. She now has a baby snail she just found yesterday. That makes 3 now. I think we are going to take one for the 75gal. I would like to get a picture of one to see if anybody knows what they are.
