The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

I use reef crystals and a half cup per gallon is almost spot on. It at least gives you some frame of reference to go by when you are manufacturing the water. I have a container that is 5 gallons to the point where I fill. So 2 1/2 cups and a little more gets me to where I need. That way I really only have to test with my refractometer twice. Once you get a feel for your containers and how the salt combines you should be able to do the same.

Yeah I think it's just gonna take awhile to get use to.

What SG are you trying to reach?

I'm not sure where do you guys keep yours at. Is there a reson to have anything our then 1.024?

I'm at 1.020 so far and adding salt slowly to sneak up on it. I'm adding a cup every hour or so to let it mix in the whole setup. Dose this sound like a good Idea?

It can take some salts a while to completely dissolve and give you a true reading. I add my salt and let it mix for 24 hours before I even make any adjustments. I could probably do it sooner than that but I'm kind of retentive when it comes to water quality.

OK I'll do that.

Yeah well I'm only doing it this way this time. I will be mixing and aging our water from now on. We are going to get 2 32 gallon garbage cans to store and mix water in.
