The begining of a shellie tank...

I got my egg crate at home depot. It wasn't by the lighting it was with the stuff they use to make drop ceilings.

Do you have anything else in with them?

I have a couple platies (dither fish), a nerite snail and a small bristlenose pleco. I had multis with them for a little while but the multis terrorized the other fish too much.

:silly: LMAO...thanks Pap!

I see, they most likely wouldn't work with what I want though would they?

Well, I need some help here (encouragement), whatever you want to call it. I'm slightly worried, ok, I got the tank over and was going to start trying to get the silicone off. I'm looking at it and wondering how in the world am I going to do this without getting the silicon on the tank itself? I'm scared I'm going to have to end up completely resealing the tank, n I really don't wanna:uhoh:

Here is what I'm working with...

When I put it together, I wasn't planning to take it apart obviously, so I made sure it was siliconed pretty good...any advice, words of encouragement, help, wanna come do it for me????

Then if I get past that point, any thoughts on how to get between the 3 pieces of glass? When I put it together I rigged up a wire (hanger) by pulling it straight then adding some paper towel to the end wrapped in electrical tape, then put the silicone on that and slid it between the pieces of glass? Yeah, I know pretty ghetto....but hey it worked :grinno:

Well a 30 gallon has a larger footprint than a 29 gallon. Have you decided on what shellies you want? You could do a shell pile at one end and rock pile at the other.

Still not completely sure which shellies, most likely a Lamprologus (Stappersii) if I can. Not set on that yet though. I figure with the shellies and the julies I would do rocks on one side and shells on the other, or maybe rocks at each end and shells in the middle...not really sure, was going to look at some set ups and go from there.

wow G unfortunately I'm too far away to help but good luck with that - I'm sure the sense of accomplishment will be worth the work.
Aww, Chill....Canada isn't THAT far from Wisconsin, we'd have fun....I'll make ya spaghetti

I would definitely do the first option...the julies will appreciate having as big of a rock pile as possible. Try also building up since they practically cling to the rocks. That will get them to use the top half of the tank so you don't just have it empty.

Can I just say O.....M......G!!!!!!!!!!!!

These shellies and Julies and Gobie, they better be the bestest fishes in the whole wide world, for what I am going through right now!

Almost got one of the pieces of glass off, been working on it for almost 2 HOURS, and it is beginning to be wiggley. Wondering if at this point just taking a hammer and busting the pieces of glass would work better:irked:

Ok, rant over....back to my main objective in life right now, *crosses fingers, I can do it, I can do it, I can do it*
