Theories on Aliens?

Howdy all.........I have not read this forum in a while so I thought I'd offer a few ramblings on the subject.

Mathmatically, it's not just possible, but more likely probable that there is life, perhaps intelligent beyond the Earth. Too many stars and galaxies for there not to be. I read a book a few years ago that spelled it all out........written, I think, by the late Carl Sagan.

It's also possible that UFOs could be visiting us from other dimensions. In order for the math for advanced physics prove out, particularly in regards to space and time, scientists have to account for more dimensions than we can percieve. I forget the exact number, but it's somewhere between six and twelve. That's a lot more than the three that you and I are capable of being aware of. It could be that these UFOs originated in our own space and time but in a parallel dimension.

The theory of our descendents returning to study us is intriging............it certaily serves well to ease our fears of invading lizard people. The theory of our "creators" or "benefactors" returning to check on us provides similar comfort, too.

One of my favorite theories, though probably less likely, I learned through my father. I never heard it presented anywhere else before so I suppose it could be his own: UFOs could come from deep beneath the ocean. It does sound a little silly, but think about it. Probably 90% of the ocean floor is yet to be surveyed with anything other than sonar or thermal imagery. Water makes up over 3/4 of our planets surface, so it is concievable that we could be living right next to.......err......above these creatures and not even know it.

Consider the stereotypical image of an alien:

Roswell_alien_prop.jpg

1. Large head with large eyes, often pictured squinting

Any creature living in complete darkness would require large eyes in order to see. Obviously, when "visiting" us they would be exposed to brighter light thaan they are accustomed to so squinting would be natural.

2. Pale pasty skin......often green or grey. Life forms from the deep or cave inhabinants often have little or no skin pigmantation due to lack of exposure to light.

3. Extreamly small ears, if any, or just a small hole where the ears "should" be. Sound waves do not dissipate as quickly under water as they do in the atmosphere. Because of this, sounds are amplified under water. Whales, dolphins, and other sea mammals, have "ears" similar to those of the stereotypical extra terrestrial.

4. Some depictions of aliens show them with little webs between their fingers and toes.............enoug said.

I don't necessary believe that this theory is true. It is fun to think about though. I do believe that something is going on and that all UFO sightings shouldn't be dismissed as merely military aircraft, weather balloons, or mass hysteria. The possibilities are endless, but until one lands in our front yard, it's occupant hops out and introduces itself, we'll never know for sure.

How about the cave drawings with weird shaped people wearing globes on their heads?? Those folks had some imagination huh?!!?! :joe:

..................or how about an obscure biblical reference that some believe is an alien reference:

Genesis 6:4
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterward-when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

one thing I'll never buy is the "Big Bang" theory
The big bang theory is actually quite simple. It is a known fact that the universe is expanding. Virtually everything outside our galaxy shows a red shift. Everything is moving away from each other. So, if you go into the future, things will be even farther apart. The logic of the big bang is that if you go back in time, it makes sense that everything was closer together. If you go back far enough, everything is at a single point in space.

I think it's exactly what they saw. It was a "big" enough event for them to "record" on the cave wall.

Could it be that there are only a "few" Earth-like planets that exist within "their" reachable limits of travel? (??) Our travel is very primitive, to say the least!

...

Ain't Sci-Fi incredible??
Conditioning, and more maybe, then we might accept .... "Something wonderful.."

2010 - the movie quote...

:idea2:

For those of you that didnt' see the movie 2010, rent it, sit back and enjoy... That is only if you are open-minded to the Universe.. ..And your own personal beliefs are still open-minded.. :-)

Right, right. But the "Big Bang" is supposed to explain the beginnings. It's perfectly fine to argue that the universe is expanding in accordance with time -- but what about the *very* beginning. What sparked the expansion? A "Big Bang"? Out of nowhere? BOOM? That's what I've always found troubling ... it seems to go against our conceptions of physics that something (a Bang or spark) can come from nothing.

The big bang theory can explain right up to the fraction of a second before the bang begins but does not even try to explain that first point in time. I don't believe there are any real theories of that first instant because nothing that we can observe and study was in existance at that point. Creation has a similar limitation in that it doesn't explain where God came from; it's not even something it tries to explain which is fine. There are some things I don't think we'll ever fully understand this side of the grave. I personally believe God created the world through a sudden creation of raw materials (i.e. a Big Bang) followed by some sort of evolutionary process (They're not mutally exclusive), but I freely admit I could be wrong.

dolphins are just here for our fish and mice just want to know the meaning of life.

Sorry couldn't resist considering this forum this topic and that new movie (and of course the books).

I'm a big fan of Carl Sagan.

Mathematically there must be a total of either 7 or 11 dimensions. Most pysicists lean toward 11. And we live in 4 dimensions. 3 are spatial(Height/Width/Length) and the 4 is time.

One cause that attempts to offer why the Big Bang happened was that the 11 dimensions were an unstable combination. They broke apart. 7 of them shrunk to the size of practically nothing. Time was another spatial dimension that turned into a linear dimension. So what happened before the Big Bang? Quite possibly nothing. Because Time did not exist like it does now. Like a glass scuplture that sat timeless, no past, no future. Then it shattered and everything began.

Now I'm not saying I understand what I just said exactly. But that's what I've been led to believe from what I've read.

I wish I did understand it.
