Some Goldfish live in temperature as hish as 106 degrees but most suggest a temp range between 65-75 degrees, I have a Goldfish in my tank and I keep my temp at about 72-74, my other tropical fish can handle that range just fine and there's no undue stress on the Goldfish.
Ugh, we had a carnival nearby that put my bosses name and number and "courtesy of your local Petsmart" on the card (without telling my boss mind you). Granted they will never do something so disrespectful and probably illegal again, but it was really annoying to have kids/parents bringing in those coupons for "one free goldfish" and then hearing us say "we aren't selling you a goldfish to put in a bowl, it will not be healthy or survive, we're sorry this happened" and "we did not approve of this prize nor do we sell our fish for improper habitats".
Did anyone bother to ask what type of goldfish it is?
Not to discredit what you may already know, but if it's a shubunkin, common or comet goldfish, it will need a pond eventually because of it's natural growth. If it's a fantail, telescope-eye, moor, or fancy goldfish then it'll grow to be anywhere between 6 and 8 inches in length, sometimes more.
Wasn't sure if you were aware of this, so I figured I'd point it out because if they're big enough, it's possible that they'll start bullying and preying on the other tank inhabitants. That wouldn't be good for your current stock.
I personally hate goldfish booths because I've known so many friends and relatives who end up keeping them in just about any container they have laying around in regular tapwater and then they get mad when the fish dies. The worst was a friend who's kids won some common goldfish at a fair. He had a 10-gallon tank he filled with our city water (which reeks of chlorine and smells more like pool water, I swear it does) and he was feeding the fish saltine crackers and breakfast cereal. They didn't last the week.
Stupid stupid stupid... I like the idea of fish coupons for petshops or a goldfish plushie or toy better. At least then the animals don't suffer the idiocy of mankind... :mad2:
oh man, they should get the little glass fish! (ok not the real Glass Fish real fish) But my dad used to have a 10G fish tank with glass (like, drinking glass glass) fish. They were a little angel fish, seahorse, etc, that had fishing wire that attached to glass balls filled with air so they floated around the tank. They could just make goldfish ones of those and hand those out
