TYPO's 55g!

Did some minor rearranging. Moved the explosive hygro to the back near the sword to give the crypts and chain sword more light. Grouped the parva closer together in the midground to separate them from the chain swords. Moved a couple smaller crypts together. I think overall the front looks much cleaner.

Yesterday I pulled out my crystalwort mat and put it in a mixing bowl in order to net all the duckweed and extra floating bits for my turtle to munch on. Long story short, the danios had a spawn in the mat, and I pulled out thousands of daphnia, and upwards of 20 danio fry and a couple developing eggs. I knew daphnia were in it, as I had seen them swimming around between the fronds, but the fry were a complete surprise. The cool thing is that the danios I currently have are 2nd generation. I'm a fishy great gramma! So they're in the ugly tub floating in my tank along with all of the daphnia that came out of the plant. Until they're big enough to fit in the net breeder, the have to be confined to a solid container. I don't normally try to save the fry, they spawn nearly every week, and I'd be up to my elbows in fry and tanks if I tried.

Ideally, I'd like to change the left side of the tank, getting rid of the flat rock and using more driftwood as hides instead. I've been keeping an eye out for nice big and inexpensive driftwood pieces, but those are pretty hard to come by. Until I have a bigger income, I've gotta stick to what I've got.

5/17/11, boring update. Currently living at parents, re-arranged tank after move. Cut up sword runner, planted all swordlings in one bunch. moved crypts to back of the tank. Added larger driftwood. Massively cut back wisteria.
There's a dresser in front of the tank, so sorry for the bad angle. Also have a couple ugly, recovering anubias(es?) that got dried out in a move =[.

Thanks for looking!

The laugh's on me ... I managed to comment after your first page without seeing the rest of the thread, oops. Interesting to see the tank going through its various looks. :)

Thank you! I can say it's been quite a learning experience for me. It's my first real planted tank I've done, and I can say I love the planting part as much as the fish-keeping part. I can't wait to get into some of the high-light/co2 stuff. (Need bigger budget first ><.) I try to keep from fiddling with the scape too much until I move and need to tear it up.

And I just noticed as I type this that my angels appear to be laying again (sadly they're kinda old, and they don't seem to get viable clutches.) I got them about 9 months ago, and the guy said he had a pair that did lay, and he would sell the babies to the LFS, but that was a couple years ago.

Still! How cute!

YouTube Vid of who I believe is "Mommy" fanning the eggs. My filter is grinding terribly atm, so I'm trying to swap out the audio. Forgive me if it's not completed yet, you may need to mute it.

Nice tank.

My angels used to lay eggs constantly. But were always gone in a day or two. Nice tank!
