Very new guy with new tank!

I'm pretty sure my landlord would throw a fit if I wanted to put one in as well. but because he's a dirty smarmy 40 some year old single man that goes to cancun over college spring break for the same reason college guys go, he's very easily talked into things by me by just me smiling and saying please. Therefor, I'm just going to put one in. I think my breaker box is in my spidery garage. He would never even know anyways.Well that poses a problem. I guess thats up to you then. I also rent currently and was not allowed to change to a GFI but I have placed a GFI over the normal outlet. I told the landlord that they were nuts not letting me switch it out but they said thats what my renters insurance was for. When/If we get our place I'll be placing GFI's near the tank.
Yeah at first I wasn't going to tell him I was putting a 75gal fish tank in his apartment seeing that I'm on the 3rd floor but I told him the other day. He did'nt think anything of it so now I can ask him for the key. I thought he might not like the possible flood thing but he was cool with it. Plus I'm a contractor so he knows I can fix what ever happens.
same here i live on a 3rd floor in a really old house. you can feel vibrations when someone is walking, it feel likes the floor is about to collapse.
OK I have a question for you guys. Me and my girl friend are going to set up a QT tank. I think that I'm going to make the tank myself out of acrylic because I like the clear cube look you get with no black bands at the top and bottom. My question or questions are:
#1 Do you have to cycle the QT before you put fish in it?
#2 Can we build set up and get fish in the QT while we are waiting for the display tank to cycle?
#3 what size is good for a QT?
We want to put the QT on my desk in the same room as the main tank so we can see the fish while we are waiting to put them in the display tank. Can you think of any reason why we shouldn't do that? I guess that would be #4.

I wish I had friends/significant other that were into saltwater tanks.
When my washer and dry spin up the whole house shakes. My flat screan TV wiggles back and forth. I hope the waves aren't to big. LOL
