Victorian cichlids

I wanted to share a few pictures of my little ones. These are Haplochromis sp. Kenya Golds, and they have colored at 1 inch. I received these in late November, at 1/2 inch. So far, my group seems to be 3 males 9 females, but I am waiting to see if any more color.

You really have a very special collection of fishes, LadyBarbara! Congrats for the great work you are doing!!!

Thank you. I love the Victorians, and getting a colony that is hard to find is an intriguing challenge, and breeding them to spread is even more. I can't wait until I get fry from the Kenya Golds.

I went to a cichlid auction yesterday and scored 4 very rare fry, Yssichromis sp "blue tipped." They are thought to be extinct in the wild, and very very rare in the US. I am hoping to grow these into a small colony, and be able to distribute fry.

Nice victorians! I finally joined the sister site of MFK! How is everything doing ladybarbara? Good luck with the fish. Have any pics of them?

Here are pictures of my Xystichromis Kyoga Flameback "All Red Lake Nawampasa". My favorite species of the lake victorian cichlids. I have a young group growing out right now and have a couple males coloring up in this batch.

Hi Tydus, and welcome! I'll work on some pics today, they are just tiny silver fry with big appetites as yet. I plan to photo-document their progress, and do some articles since they are so rare. Good to see you here~

As always, am in awe of your Kyoga flamebacks. Beautiful fish!
