webcricket's tanks

cool tanks
could you put three dwarf puffer's in a ten gallon?

Thanks! The recommendation seems to be 3 gallons per puffer (www.dwarfpuffers.com) so long as the tank is fairly densely planted and there is only 1 male present. Mine get on well enough, the only aggression (chasing) I see is at feeding time when everyone wants the same bloodworm. I have an oto cat in the tank as well, and they don't bother her at all. I suppose it varies from puffer to puffer what they will tolerate - I added all my DPs at once so they could duke out territory right away.

I am in awe of all your tanks. Especially the planting in your 10 gallon :thud: . As far as I can see you have 2 WPG of light, I only have 1.3 WPG but I can't get mine to look that good. How do you do it?

I guess plant choice plays a big factor in that tank, and it took some time to figure out and hunt down what worked in the lighting. All of those plants grow nicely in low light conditions. I tried a couple of medium light plants and they just didn't thrive. Despite being only 2 wpg, I use a surprising amount of fertilizers as well. Now that I have those balanced out, all of these plants that I read as being "slow growers" are growing like weeds! It's basically trial and error to figure stuff out!

With your lighting, I'd run an advanced search at http://www.tropica.com/default.asp and change the lighting level on the search to "very low light" - all of those plants listed should do well in 1.3 wpg, and likely with little to no fertilization as long as you do good sized weekly water changes. What are you growing right now? It could just be they are not suited to the lower lighting.

Thanks for the advice and inspiration friend. I'm now determined to see just how well I can plant my tank :). Many thanks for the link too, most helpful! At the moment I'm growing some Vallisneria nana, and what I've now identified as an Anubia and some Java moss. Will post pictures when I've got the plants happening a bit more ;)

I updated some of the fish pics on the first page, hit ctrl+F5 for the most recent pics if you are interested (finally got some good ones of the danios)! I also have my 20 gallon FTS updated with the new driftwood, just waiting on the plants to be delivered!

Also, here's an updated pic of the juvenile platy (now adult size) I posted on the first page - she's a girl about a year old now. She has super color, almost makes me wish I was still breeding these guys.

Excellent tanks & photos. How's the glowfish working out? I'm contemplating getting one along w/ a few regular ones to put in w/ schools of tetras (once I get a planted 46g going). I also really like the pepper cory.

Love the tanks by the way... I'm planning to put about 20-30 Neon Tetras in my tank or any other tetras. I'm going to PETS INC. this saturday to pick up some glossostigma and some other plants as well...
If you have any other suggested fish(s), let me know. Much appreciated.

Driftwood = rockartsource on eBay...they have fantastic driftwood. Some of it is even sold pre-soaked so it doesn't leech tannins at all.

I finally got the plants in my 20 gallon tanks, the pictures are updated in the first post - Ctrl + F5 on that page for the most recent pictures! Most everything is acclimated and starting to show new growth. I will update the pics as things fill in.
