webcricket's tanks

I love the plants do you use just gravel or peat moss or what would be best for someone just starting out with plants?

I do use just plain gravel. Unless you are going high-tech high-light, I thing plain old gravel will work well for most purposes. My advice would be to start with a low-light tank of between 1.5 and 2 watts per gallon of light. Stick with low light plants and do lots and lots of research. My plants are all low-light save for the ones in the 5 gallon tank. I don't fertilize the 20 gallon tanks at all - those tanks are at 1.8 watts per gallon and considered lighting planted. I do heavily fertilize the 10 and 5 gallon tanks daily mainly because they are medium-densely planted and the fish alone cannot provide what the plants need to flourish.

nice tank:)

nice pictures...

Some recent "study" pics I took of one of my Olive Nerite snails: This one has a very scarred shell. I really love the striped coloration on the body.

I think you should take a trip downstate for some warmer weather and of course to take pics of my tanks for me.

Oh and we have less snow nyah nyah nyah :p:

Awesome pics! :thm:

Your sunburst platies really contrast the natural decor. I like it a lot. It really is a proper name for the type of platy.. .looking like a burst of sunshine amongst the greenery.

All great shots!

Excellent photos. Nice work with the tanks, they look absolutely fantastic. I just bought three gold mystery snails off Ebay for my new 60 gallon and your snails make me anxious for them to get here soon! I never thought snails might be so cool until I found AC... how did your snail's shell get so scarred, out of curiosity?
