takifugu occelatus - fugu puffer

anyways, I just bought a Fugu Puffer and the LFS told me that it is a freshwater puffer. After doing my own research on the net, I am even more confused. Some say its saltwater, some say it is freshwater, and some say brackish. I am currently keepin it in a freshwater, but i want to find out for sure before it dies, and i cannot return it u know ahahah. ALso, i read it has to be fed shellfish from time to time to file down their teeth, cuz if it grows to big, they cannot eat, is this true? and instead of shellfish, is there a substitute that will help file down the teeth? If anyone has owned one, your opinions and tips will be appreciated! thanks.

Why have you purchased such an exotic fiah, you know nothing about? Even the most experienced pufferkeepers have only been able to keep this fish alive for a few months.

How Do I breed F-8 puffers

I Love puffers and I want to breed them. I have somve figure eights and I would like to breed them. Does anyone know how to breed freshwater/brackish puffers of anykind? If so which ones are the easiest ones to breed? Please help!

Dwarf puffers are the easiest to breed by a wide margin.

I am currently cycling my 20 gallon well.. actually converting it into a brackish tank for my F8 and GS puffers woowoo! I have a 10 gallon QT and a 10 gallon community tank I hope to start posting picks soon

Might I suggest keeping the F8 in the 10g & putting the GSP alone into the 20g? the GSP will be needing at least a 30g as an adult though...

Alright im here for help with my tank so I think I will take your advice. I think I will look into it or I might just buy a 30 gallon and use my 10 as a QT I want my fish to live a long long time! Is it true that GSP are more suitable for full salt tanks than F8P? Cause ive never seen a GSP in a full salt enviroment only GSP.

I don't recommend housing these 2 species together as adults. The GSP grows 3x the size, is much more aggressive & requires a much higher salinity than a F8.

can a green puffer go with shark?

I am in the process of getting a much larger tank, and have been looking at different fish I would like to add to my new tank. I seen green puffer fish and really like them, but I was told they are very shy and stress easily. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about them and if it would be ok to put them with the fish I already have.

2-bala shark
2-irrodesent shark
2-dwarf gaumbie (not sure how you spell this one)
1-algie eater (don't know the name)
1-rainbow shark

If not would anyone happen to know any nice fish that would go with them?

i have a gsp i have just recently moved him to a semi brackish 29 gallon tank... i keep him alone he does stress very easy even when feeding him you will notice the belly turn a dark gray/black (stress marks) I have had him in all frsh water your supposed to keep them all fresh as young fish but when they reach about 1"1/2 - 2" start to convert them to brackish water, i plan on buying an archer fish to be his tank mate... and to answer your question about sharks and such I had him in a full community tank... bala shark, 4 corys, 1 clown pleco, chocolate gourami, 2 brazilian puffs and 2 dwarf puffs.
