It's been awhile, thought I would update some pics of the ram fry. They're doing well....all 11 of them ! :D

Looking good. Mine had and ate (or the neons did) their second batch, or at least they ate most of them. Hopefully some will survive long enough to become big enough not to be eaten by mom, dad, or any of my neons. One of these days I'll get a tank set up as soon as I see eggs and save a few of the little buggers. I know my LFS would love them. Esp. if they're as hardy as mom and dad.

A couple pics of a pair of adult rams I have in my 29 tank. These are not the parents to the batch I'm raising now though. They're all nicely colored up as they get ready to spawn.

The male...........................................................................................The female

Just for interest sake.......and because I'm bored !

Man those are nice looking fish.

Wow, beautiful fish EMG. The female is especially interesting, the face seems white rather than the more common yellow like your male. She also seems to have very odd black and blue patterning on her face. Very different looking, but very good looking!
I am surprised that the front rays on your male are so short. The front two rays on my male are like an inch and a half long, as well as his pectoral fins they are long enough to touch his tail. It's very ellegant looking, but I guess it must differ from fish to fish.

Ray, you may have the long finned variety of ram. That's also one reason I don't try to sex rams according to their dorsal rays.....they are all so different.
Yes, this female is a very interesting girl. I love the pattern of black and white and all the speckles that she has. Her color isn't up to it's best in this pic....she gets a bit washed out when the male hassels her just before they spawn. During the actual spawning her colors come right out nice. I'll have to see if I have one of her at that time........

Thanks Cathy, these are very nice fish. I have been looking into "breathable" shipping bags for fish. I don't know what they cost, but they're supposed to be great for shipping fish in.
