what are some oddball's for community tank?

Get a Black Ghost Knife. your little fish may get eaten when the ghost knife is bigger but they are awesome and totally an oddball.

or get a bichir, which will also eat your tankmates.

I don't think I helped now that I look what I wrote. :-)

I would go with a whiptailed catfish, or maybe a spotted raphael catfish. The raphael will hide all the time, but the whiptail is a great alternative to a pleco and they are very jurassic looking IMO.

if you have the room, a small school of upside down cats might be neat... there are alot of different species or plecos with all different kinds of colorations.. so you might be able to find something you like there as well.

I just read an article on the rubber worms in a magazine earlier today. They really are neat but are amphibious

They are not just amphobious, but are amphibians, not fish. What is more, they are known to eat smaller fish, and should be kept in a tank devoted to them.

Except at night, when it will come out and inhale whatever it can, which will include small, sleeping fish.

I think they have some pretty special care requirements but butterfly loaches (AKA hillstream loach, hong kong pleco, borneo sucker) are neat to look at. Nice, calm, peaceful odd balls.

Hmmmm.....this could explain my missing pristellas and my disappering bettas. Thanks for the info. Thats the first I have heard of this. My bf should be getting a new tank soon that he will be moving to as well as the albino rainbow sharks...I may keep one in my tank just so they don't fight, the whiptail and the yoyo's will be moving as well. Geeze....I wish he would just quit buying fish without knowing a darn thing about them

Ok, now you have me confused. I can't find anything that says a spotted raphael will eat small fish. They do say other raphael cats will, but specifically say these are good for a community aquarium. Can you point me to some literature that says they will eat small fish. I'm not doubting it's true, I would just like to see something that says it.
