i currently have a penguin 200 in my 29 gal, and i'm not too happy with its style. it isn't very good at cleaning the water. anyways, what would you recomend for a 75 gal?

A RUGF with 2-4 Penguin 660 powerheads and two Mag 350s or "C" series 360...

Sounds good. I have an RUGF with 3 660r' and a whisper 60 HOB in a 75G for my goldfish and pleco. Does a fine job but the canister would give better flow and the new canisters appear to be REALLY easy to service.

Anyway...GO RUGF! and get 2 660r's no matter what. you can always add more later. I have 4 RUGF tanks and love 'em.

You have several good choices: the Emperor 400 would be a good hang-on-the-back filter, though I might get two, or one plus a canister filter. Speaking of which, the Rena XP 3 would be ideal for your tank. (As would an Eheim.)

i don't like the way that canister filters look in tanks though. are there any hang-on-the-back filters that could do as good a job?

On my 75g I have a Penguin 350 and an Eheim 2215. I love Eheims but XP3 seems to be cheaper...

what are the advantages/disadvantages of both?
