What kinds of fish should I get for a 2.5 gallon aquarium?

I keep my bettas in a 5g tank split in half with a divider...I lost one earlier this year at about 3.5 years old...my other one is pushing 5 years....here is a good site for more info. regarding this topic http://www.ibcbettas.org/faq.htm

It actually isn't good to put two betta (males) in the same tank with a divider. You are very lucky they lived long, because a lot of times they flare at each other sooooooo much they get stressed and die quickly. Don't do that again, because that just might happen one day.

really, where did you learn this stuff, because alot of it is wrong. you can put two bettas in one aquarium with a divider as long as the can jum over it and ge to the other side. yes, they are gooing to flare a bit, but it they wont untill it kills them. the bettas at my petsmart are there for about two weeks and they flare plenty when they see the others, but then after that they dont do much even though they can see them. the fish nkow the other males are there, but as long as they arent invading their territories they are fine

I've had bettas live through fights (non-intentional) - flaring is merely a threat, not actual damage to a fish. Please post a lnk to your "best betta site" so I can point out all the wrong info.

hmmmm..... giving adivce to people who are trying to help you... that doesn't usually go over too well..... and that' false. flaring (or so i've heard) is actually good for them. in fact, keeping two males witha divider is good, because it stimulates their natural behavior.

It STRESSES them. And stressing them too much can KILL them. Or make them die faster. Like, if you had really bad depression your whole life, you won't have a long life! And WHENEVER a betta male SEES a betta male, it flares. They don't have to be in a tank together to flare. Mine flare at each other and they are all in separate tanks. SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

IT STRESSES THEM. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF, SAY, YOU WERE YELLING (well, humans don't flare) YOUR WHOLE LIFE? IT WOULD GET PRETTY TIRING, WOULDN'T IT???? You people are hopeless! You don't understand! It STRESSES THEM! Either you don't understand stress or you don't understand bettas.
