What kinds of fish should I get for a 2.5 gallon aquarium?

That's what everyone says! And I know people with even worse tempers.... ugh....

i have had two male bettas with a plexiglass divider and they each lived about five years.they were always perky too, never stressed or tired, they would flare ocassionaly to remind the other who's bigger.

You people are LUCKY. I had bettas in a divider and they stressed each other. Seriously, that's WEIRD. No Stress!

IT STRESSES THEM. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF, SAY, YOU WERE YELLING (well, humans don't flare) YOUR WHOLE LIFE? IT WOULD GET PRETTY TIRING, WOULDN'T IT???? You people are hopeless! You don't understand! It STRESSES THEM! Either you don't understand stress or you don't understand bettas.

But the fact is they don't flare all their life. They can't. They know theirs another male in the area, but they can't do anything about it. So they live with the fact. YOu need to understand that there are other males in nature and there are no barriers preventing them from seeing and fighting with each other - yet betta splendens has not gone extinct.

Actually, some peope believe that letting the bettas fight with each other ocassionally is actually quite benificial to theier mental helath.

well some bettas are very agressive,i have a pretty orange one that almost killed a female i tried to spawn him with.he had no intentions on breeding with her, just killing.

Why are you saying that bettas like small tanks. When I put my betta from it's little bitty cup to it's nice 5 gallon he was swimming around having fun. After a few days his colors looked soo nice. IMO 5 gallons is the min. tank size for a betta. It's not bad putting 2 betta in with a divider. It gives them another fish to look at. I've heard that if you keep a betta by itself with no fish anywhere or near a mirror it gets them depressed.

seriously, don't put down people who try to help you, ILB, it really doesn't earn you friends....
