OK, folks, I am totally at a loss. I've been researching all over the net to try to find this info. From what I've read in other posts, in order to get my poor plants to actually grow instead of just existing, I need better light (at least 128 watts). I have a 55 gal. freshwater tank which I bought years ago as a kit. The lighting I'm using is what came with the tank. When I checked the bulbs last night (the tank has two hoods), the bulb has only 15 watts - so with both hoods that means the poor plants have only been getting 30 watts total.
But here's my dilemma. I've been all over the net looking for 18", T8 bulbs/tubes that will fit in the existing hood and there doesn't seem to be anything available in that size with more wattage than 15 watts. Advice would be greatly appreciated! Do these size bulbs exist with highter wattage or does this mean I'd need to start over with an entirely different hood that will hold higher wattage bulbs?
