It's good that your nitrite spike has subsided but keep dosing the ammonia up to the 3-5ppm level and when you see both ammonia and nitrite crashing down to 0.0ppm within 24 hours, then you know you're there!

ammonia -- 0 ppm
nitrites -- <0.25 ppm

The ammonia is being broken down in no time at all.. I would guess it goes from 4 to 0 in about 6 or 7 hours... maybe more, maybe less..

But less than 0.25 ppm nitrites!! I CAN SEE THE LIGHT!!!
