Whew...I'm almost there! *freaks out*

wait...how do they poo compared to others?
Not as much as most other snails like the canas. Should have explained better.:D

I didn't know the Philippines had access to assassin snails. Where do you go for the good stores there anyway? I didn't find any good ones when I was there :-( I stayed in Manila too! I would think that's where all the good stores are at. I wanted to bring back nerites, seeing as how cliton coronas are suppose to be native there or something. Well, I know some kind of clithon was native there.

How much does the assassin snail cost there, in terms of pesos?
Hi Yadokari,

Actually, the assassins were shipped from Europe to a friend who lives in Manila. He then sent me a text message that he got 10 for sale and I immediately grabbed the 5 which cost me 200 pesos each plus 600 pesos for shipping. Then four were obtained from another friend who owns a LFS after I told him to reserve them for me when he mentioned his supplier has them. Turns out his supplier also was another of my friend from Manila who also ordered assassins and shipped me loaches two years ago.:perv: Had to pay 350 pesos each.:irked: Better than 500 pesos when I told him bluntly his price is not right and I will refuse the sale. 500 pesos is very high. I had a few friends telling me how I could be so ridiculous to spend more than 2000 pesos just for the "measly" snails.:headshake2:

Here's the list of native nerites in the Philippines. I had to gather the list from a few sites.:headshake2:

I like snails too much. Can't even look at a list like that. < covers eyes >

Gawd, I need you to hook me up with that when I go back this year! Hahaha...

200 pesos isn't so bad. That's about 4 bucks each? That is, if we rate 50 pesos = 1 dollar. Might be 40 pesos or less now per dollar though...

ANYWAY! Where do you go? Are the good stores not in Manila?

48 pesos per dollar right now. $4 is okay. I just didn't appreciate the price going more than twice that since I estimated his expenses in ordering all his stocks and thought it shouldn't be that expensive if he ordered them all in one go otherwise where did the extra 300 pesos per snail go? He priced them that way without informing me first about it. I was hoping when he ordered them from his supplier, he should have told me the price beforehand than to surprise me when he promised he'd get snails for me. I'll buy them only if the price is right otherwise I'd refuse so he decided to lower the prices.

I was already ripped off previously by the same seller by being sold a local nerite each for 100 pesos when it should cost only 25-40 pesos.:screwy: I discovered my mistake only after a chat with another friend who got her snails from a reputable store. This was why I was blunt about his assassin snail price and wanted to reverse the order because of the price he was asking me. I made a few of my friends already aware of the right prices and were shocked when I agreed to buy them at 350 each. I just shrugged off and said, better than not increasing your chances of breeding them at all. 350 pesos is cheaper than 500 in the long run.Hehe...

Manila does have a few good stores. Cartimar in Pasay City is far but it's a market with over hundreds of individual stores specializing in specifically aquarium plants, terrestrial plants, aquarium equipments, FW stocks, SW stocks, etc. I buy mostly from the reputable persons though that have earned respect from the locals who buy exotics from them. See mypalhs.com and its affliates. It's a local forum where I contact the affliates to get what I want. Tagalog and English are the main languages used. I use mostly English so I'm sure you won't have trouble understanding most conversations there.:D

Very nice!!! Baby Assassins are sooooo cute!!!

Ah, nerites for only a dollar each... I'd kill for that :<
I'm gonna have to try and go there this year!

As for assassin snail eggs, the hard part is getting the babies to grow up. I didn't get a successful survival rate until being 5 months in with them! Hopefully, you have better luck. The babies are really cute. Slow growing too, so the cuteness lasts longer. Hahaha...
