Which cannister filter to buy?

all my tanks over 40G use a wet dry filter as the main filter so much easier to maintain than messing with canisters.

I think many of the canister filters have their advantages and disadvantages. I am sold on the Marineland ones.

I'm also a huge fan of the Marineland C series filters. I am however getting ready to try a Fluval on a smaller tank...

I use an xp2 on a twenty, and an xp3, a fluval 305 and a 405 on my 150. All work great. I do think that the rena's are easier to maintain. The fluvals filter great, but I find myslf taking twice as long to service them.
So, I would say that if you are looking for easy, the rena's are probably the way to go.

I have an xp2 and xp3 on my 75 gallon, and an xp2 on my 28 gallon. I like them a lot, although I haven't tried any other brands yet.

Its not them, It is what you Are comparing them too, Eheim is like a F1 car, Fluval is like a Civic.

This is a quote from another thread from only about a week ago. Comparing fluval and eheim canister filters. Pretty much sums it up nicely. I will say however that the fx5 is a good filter and is worth it as well. I have 1 running on my 80g tank with no complaints in the last 5 months with it.

Well call me "old fashion" BUT I want to spend money on live stock not filters. I have purchased a Magnum 350 and HOT.Without a doubt dollar for dollar they are great!!!
Yes a $300 Fluval is better but a $85 Magnum is a better deal.
I use the 350 on a 75 and the HOT on a turtle tank. Both very messy...lol
