hi - i am 15 with my fish tank and im having problems with it. Evryday i look at my fish and they seem good and then in the morning it turns clowdy and fish are dying it seems. i do regular 30 percent water cahnges once a week. it has been up since june 25. i had power go out and 4 fish died i restablished my tank and got new fish. but like i said before this moring it happend again i cant even find one of my cichlids. any help or advice to a newbie like my self would be nice.

p.s. i feel like a idiot and sad about this whole thing.



29 gallon
5 leopard danios
2 daffodil cichlids
1 blood parrot that will be leaving to a new bigger home if he survives my stupidity.
 
Man I understand that feeling! Every morning when I look at my fish I am certain that I've done something terrible to them, though they are always more sluggish when I first turn the lights on. My fish recover their zip and color by the time I feed them. It sounds like your fish eventually start to look better--is it just a morning thing?

What exactly are your fish doing that makes you think they are dying? Have you tested your water? What kind of cloudyness?
 
they are slow and not moving but stay at the bottom and one was stuck to the filter, the bp was and looking mad and since the last post it looks better. its clowdy though. its not crystel clear at like a pet store or somebody that has a great tank. thanks

I'm curious, do you have a heater on your tank? I seems weird something would happen at night like that, and the only thing that comes to mind is a heating issue??

Any time I set up a new tank, the water gets cloudy before the cycle really starts. I'm pretty sure this happens to everyone. It almost sounds like you're saying it's cloudier in the morning and I just don't understand how that could be.

Can you tell us about your filtration?
 
Can you post your Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels. Is the cloudy water white or green? To tell fill up a clear glass or jar and hold it up against a white piece of paper. This will help us tell if it is an algae (green) or bacterial (white) bloom. Is it cloudy in the morning but them clear up at all throughout the day?

How long was your power out for? Did all your fish die at that time or only four out of the ones you have now? How many fish did you add at one time to your tank to reestablish it?
 
yes i have a 150 watt heater.
 
humm..and what your ammonia, nitrate and nitrite levels?
 
nevermind he is fealing alot better i think it was becasue my parents didnt put the hallwaylight on so the fish coudlnt see in total darkness.................right?

thanks for all the help but the water test ill ave to get since i dont have my own kit. the pet store does it for me , i go there 2 times a week , so thanks everyone.
