why must it happen to me?

Has anyone stopped to think his extra ammonia, etc. may be due to excess food in the gravel? He is doing weekly water changes, but he is doing a gravel vac every week? I was constantly getting ammonia readings in my cycling tank, and figure out that it was extra food in the gravel causing it. I gravel vac, and replaced about 75% of the water, and haven't had a problem sense.

Nate, you can go get a cheap gravel vac and walmart for like 6 bucks. Try to gravel vac at least every 2 weeks, if not every week. Good luck with your tank.
