Windows Vista

we have moved to Vista, and had no problems - no crashes, etc. My other half is a software architect, so he has to have the new platforms to develope against, and he actually LIKES Vista....that is unusual, as he usually conplains about OS until at least service pack 2 arrives!

Perhaps it is the version that you have moved to that has problems - if it is the Vista Home it apparently can be flaky - ours is Vista Enterprise, so it has ot be mmore eobust for heavier development.software etc?

Linux has been around a long time, it won't render XHTML, .asp etc, and I think ti renders the browser (Mozilla I think) differenyl,so you may not be able to use some of the websites as they are now written to be used ; I knowit has problems with e-commerce websites if their shopping carts are written in VBscript/.asp technology - shows the price, but can't read the differences for different sizes/styles etc!

have fun!

WE have an issue with a computer at the moment that the manufacturers said was a 'microsoft issue' - my husband said rubbish! (or words to at effect!) - we are unable to load ANY software on our new dual core machine - Vista diagnosed a processor error/fault ad the promptly shut down....we are now wating for restore disks to arrive so we can start again - re-seating the processor did get us a little further though if that helps, bt from the sound of your problems they sound like processor rather than software problems - I would talk to the place you bought it from.....

 I have yet to find even one way a Mac is superior to a PC.

Are you actually trying? Me thinks not.

OS 10 blows Windows out of the water. Period.

It runs and runs and runs. Windows is a highly bloated POS with more problems than Mike Vic.

So laugh all you want fellas, as you deal with all your Windows BS....

Just my opinion.

My dad just installed vista 2 days ago. Its kinda fancy, a bit too fancy for my eyes, but its not too bad. It is faster.

We've had our problems with vista. Sometimes some of the vista components come up on booting and sometimes they don't ex. the little clock thingy. We were getting an error messege and the dell tech told us we'd have to reimage the hard drive. I learned a little trick from our IT department here and just googled the error messege and was able to repair the registry. My wife is the one who has to deal with vistas little problems but generally speaking it's about the same as any other roll out I've had to deal with from microsoft. It has problems and in time there will be patches to fix a lot of problems.

We needed a new computer and had no choice of what operating system it came with. Sure we could have replaced it but we expected vista to work OK. From day one it's had problems but no show stoppers except for the registry problem.

Q

With Windows all you need to know to troubleshoot it is "roboot and reinstall"; it has no durability at all.
