I do have one. The SG of the last mix in the bucket was 1.003 I think but the main tank is only 1.001 right now. I just need to know how many tbsp of salt I need to add to the 5g bucket to get the tank at 1.001 or 1.002.

Don't waste your $alt. F8s have been proven to do best at 1.005.
So, how many tablespoons do I put in 5 gallons to make it 1.002 or 1.001?

If they have proven best at 1.005 why are you looking to make the water lower?

Don't quote me, but I think if you were to use about 1/4 of a pound of marine salt to a 5g bucket you should come in pretty close to 1.005

this page here gives some info for you it says 1 cup should do the trick

I'm not lowering it, I'm just going to mix several tablespoons of salt to 5g to make that bucket 1.001 and if I keep adding that same mix to the tank eventually it will be 1.005, right?

if you keep adding 1.001 it does not stack it will make your water 1.001, you need to get your tank to 1.005 and the recipe above will give you 1.005

what is your salinity at right now

if it is at 1.003 pull out 5g of your water then replace it with 5g mixed this way.

2cup of marine salt in a 5g pail, add 1/3 bucket of hot water to dissolve the salt then 2/3 of the water to bring the temp in the bucket to match the temp in the tank, add 1/2 cap of prime to the 5g bucket to take out bad stuff and help condition tank water. then add new mix to the tank about 3 cups every 10 minutes or so.

That should bring up your salinity a bit in the tank then take a measurement to see where it is at

For next week I need it to be at 1.002. Will adding 8-10 tbsp or salt to 5g make the tank 1.002? My salinity is 1.001 ATM so I'm slowly trying to raise it week by week.

ok take a look at my previous posts and use that recipe.

If you pull out 5g of water ever 2 weeks and add 5g of water made to that recipes specs, it will slowly bring up your salinity as you are taking out 5g of 1.001 and adding back 5g of what should be min 1.005. Test the 5g replacement to make sure its not to salty.

Eventually if you keep using this same recipe you will end up with water that is the higher salinity you desire with out shocking your fish in the process.

Okay, yesterday I added 5 gallons of 1.006 water to the tank and the salinity is 1.002 or 3 I think. The onion plant doesn't seem to like it too much.
