Ok, I went through all of Mads posts, really I am not sure. Tell me what I am missing, if I'm missing something here. A couple make me wonder but over all I am finding nothing.
For someone who was so psyched to play in the sign up thread, mee-mee has been noticeably quiet. Also, still no word from JPap...maybe something going on in Minnesota? Paul Bunyan Axe Throwing Championship weekend?
I agree, MM and Jpap are both quite.
Based on activities so far, here's a list of folks who bear a little closer scrutiny
Beth - I mentioned it yesterday, but she acted awfully 'wiggy' when questioned. Threatened to not play future games. Immediately threw a vote back at HN when he voted for her.
Grins - Currently pushing others to post more, but has not posted much of substance herself. A lot of giggly posts yesterday about mg hating saltwater, etc.
LG
JL
JM - All 3 of these seemed a little more interested in LChap's pregame avatar analysis than they probably should have been. In addition, JM has been very quiet on Day 1 while JL has been very vocal....what's up with that?
rbishop - As blueiz mentioned, rb seems a little disgruntled this game for some reason. Seemed irritated when JL accused him of bickering with the other mods. Kind of gave Malbri an elbow when she called him 'an old fart' (although, being well on my way to old fartdom I'm not sure how I would react to that). Also seemed to get a little worked up over the mg PM issue. Not sure if these are scumtells, but something seems to be eating at rb...
I'm leaning toward a Beth vote, but would like to see Grins' response first.
Now this is from day one, but it did make me stop, he names 6 ppl, only 2 of them are Pirate. I can see a pirate doing this, I know when I'm evil, I always add a team mate or two out there in my lists...just in case. He has 2 known innocents, 1 assumed innocent, and 1 I know innocent. He kinda calls JM out in this one too, but again..I would do that as evil, if they had been talked about, maybe not vote them but at least throw them in there. But this WAS day one, so really not saying much.
The thing about an OMGUS vote is it shows that the person throwing it may be more interested in saving their own skin than actually finding scum. A quick knee-jerk 'back at you' vote says you're not necessarily thinking or caring much about who you vote for. Not a pro-town move.
As far as placing them, not many folks do...usually newer players. As far as past casters of OMGUS votes, there's been both innocents and scumbags who have cast them (I can think of 3 cases where I've gone after OMGUS voters, and 2 of them were scum).
The thing to remember about any single scumtell, though, is that they don't stand alone. While on Day 1 folks may be forced to use a single tell (as there's not often much else to go on), tells should looked at together with other tells/actions when picking a lynch candidate.
Grins, had asked about why a OMGUS vote is telling. Here he seems to be helpful.
With regard to Beth, now that she's revealed as innocent, it's easy to say she looked more innocent of late...problem is, the damage was already done by then.
As far as you not having time to do any sort of analysis, your 1st post today was nearly 2 hours before nightfall, and an hour or so before nightfall you reaffirmed to Beth that you still thought she was guilty. So I'm not sure why you're saying she was seeming more innocent to you now.
With regard to stronger suspects, I mentioned earlier today (later in Day 1) that rb was starting to look more pirate, based on his claimed random vote for Judge, all while calling LG a pirate in the same post. His more recent silence is reminiscent of when he was lead vampire in the vamp wave.
another person of interest:
LChap: Went after folks who were on Beth early and claimed it was a train, yet he hopped on Beth late. Even after hopping on, he seemed to stick with the train assessment, but said that the pirates were lynching one of their own. Two problems with this: 1) People always bring up the 'sacrificial lamb', but in 20 waves, there's never been one 2) Tossing a teammate under the bus early on Day 1, isn't a very sound strategy - this is a numbers game. Almost looks like he could have been setting things in place for Day 2.
This one actually made me rethink about Lchap and yourself HN, the first part was to you saying how you figured Beth was going to be innocent, but failed to say anything about it. The Lchap and his "train" thing. I see nothing in it that says pirate though on his behalf.
It's pretty rare that someone asks another player in the thread if they've maybe been out investigating. Usually something that would be called 'fishing for a power role'.
If you thought that Judge may have investigative powers, why would you want her to reveal that?
This one, well...it kinda makes me wonder. This was to Grins saying something to JM, actually I think she was more calling JM a pirate than a innocent with investigative powers.
I think that Clown may be alluding to the fact that it appears the Magistrate may trump Cooke's protection one time. If a pirate is outed and sent to the gallows, Cooke can protect them from the lynch for up to 2 nights. Should the Magistrate desire, though, they can imprison the protected party and kill them at will....could come in pretty handy in a race to the finish.
Again, helpful
RB, for me, it's not about who you voted for....the thing is though, you basically implied that it was a random vote (which some folks may do on Day 1). In the same post, though, you basically called LG a pirate. Wouldn't it have made more sense to vote LG instead of the random vote on JM?
Just through this in, so maybe others can remember there was more to Rb looking guilty.
Here's the thing LChap, while I agree with some that you look like you might be trying to find scum, some of the things you say or do give me pause...
In the first quote above you mention that your OMGUS vote will 'make the game interesting with everyone trying to read into it.' If you're truly on the town's side, the idea isn't to have fun while trying to possibly confuse folks. The idea is to have the things you say, and the things you do 'clear' you in other people's minds, so that the townies can concentrate on looking elsewhere. Just a thought.
Additionally, the second quote above looks like you may not be sure about voting rb or JMax at all... the part about maybe moving your vote to someone else entirely seems like an odd thing to say.
Finally,
I vote to make Judgemax walk the plank. Normally I'm not one for trying to keep votes 'even,' but I think that rb and JM are both likely pirates. If voting remains close until later in the day, it could make it harder for Cooke to offer protection to the leading vote getter.
Another one that makes me rethink Lchap. Then his vote for Jmax. Also seems helpful, not Pirate.
Alright, it looks bad that we lost 2 innocents, but it could have been much worse. The night started really well and ended really well. In addition, we now have a least one known innocent that the town can trust.
I've still got a lot of posts to read from today to catch up on the day's events, but here's a status list of folks in the game, for folks interested:
