I would go with the stain that matches other furniture/cabinets or wood/laminate flooring, red oak does look nice, I like the Cabernet also, even though I learned the hard-way that small sample pieces don't alway look the same as the big finished project, I installed cherry hardwood floors and had to sand of the entire first stain off that I thought looked good on a little sample piece.
