i have used canned pumpkin as a substitute for babie food,
its a bit firmer and not as watery but in the end work i think better,..
a 16 oz can pure pumpkin is equal to 4 baby food jars 4oz
since i double the recipe it works out good, and i use kenfish' 100% spiruilla flakes
I used 1 small jar baby food (Carrots, green beans and peas mixture) 1 small piece of algae wafer crushed into tiny dust pieces A few tetra crisps crushed into tiny pieces 1 packet of gelatin 1 crushed eggs shell with inner tissue removed and crushed into powder.
My question is Since I have a auto defrost refrigerator and it will dry out your food if left un-covered, would it be best to leave the mixture un- covered and let it dry out before adding it to the freezer? I think it make make it more like the fruit snacks texture and possibly last longer after dropped into the tank?
My snails don't seem to like it.
Jello has been in the tank for 2 days and only 2 snails ate a little bit, 4 species in 2 tanks and non of the other will even get within 6" from it
I made snail jello on the weekend and my snails went crazy for it, it was so funny to watch them fight over it. I also fed it to my turtles and they love it too but they will eat anything. The third time I fed it to my snails they didn't eat it right away but took little bites and let it.
My snails have yet to really find the jello i made tonight, but MY GAWD i have NEVER seen my cory eat so voraciously! WOW!
My recipe as based on msjinxd's:
1 packet knox unflavored gelatin
1 small jar of baby food, some vegetable mix with 4% calcium
1 tsp + a smidge of Fluker's Calcium (nobody had JurassiCal by me, but this is identical)
1 tsp random fish flakes
1 tsp crushed shrimp pellets
1/2 tsp dried blood worms
I heated the baby food and mixed the rest and stuck it in the fridge. Cut it up and fed it. They're stil gorging themselves now.
