(In the interest to save time at the moment, I'm not going to quote posts right now. If there's any question about a post later on, though, just say so and I'll be happy to do that later.)
I couldn't find anything suspicious in everyone's reaction posts except one: Hi IQ made an immediate post to make 3 points: "so we break even" then "good save by the doc" then "I have to say I'm glad Chill UD'd... he's a tough cookie to figure out."
That "so we break even" remark really lacks enthusiasm and the rest which followed sounds forced. N1 we lost a regular townie, the mafia hit failed, and scum self-destructed. That's just breaking even from a townie point of view? Really?
No it surely is not.... that's absolutely fantastic considering we'd normally lose a townie or even a PR to the lynch, lose another townie or PR to their hit, and how many times it's a townie that UDs instead of scum. Hi IQ also hedged a little bit when they did not say "I'm glad Chill UD'd...." but qualified their remark with "I have to say I'm glad....." instead. I wonder if Hi IQ was still pouting at the time they wrote this.
The way this reads, Hi IQ tried to express the "right" sentiment immediately following a tremedously positive N1 nightfall result for the town, looking how it actually came out in words, however, shows a clear lack of enthusiasm and a sense that they "had to" say something totally opposite from the truth.
After night, the town was delighted and relieved it wasn't a bad result like usual. The scum were very disappointed our lynch took out an innocent who wasn't a PR, disappointed their hit failed, and disappointed to learn their non-communicating teammate took himself out of the game not getting back in time to vote. All the scum team got out of that night was 1 regular townie. That's a horrible result for scum on Night 1.
The scum team must also have been surprised. They didn't get the hit they were counting on and lost a NC teammate unexpectedly to boot. Hi IQ's initial reaction was not a prepared statement made long after the event happened and they'd taken time to get better composed first before posting. That surprise and disappointment the scum team must have felt comes across quite well despite the happy pretense attempted in Hi IQ's post.
Here is the actual statement from Hi IQ, which hit the thread 7 minutes after Labby said "game on."
So we break even, good save by the doc. I have to say I'm glad Chill UD'd,he is a tuff cookie to figure out.
Anyone else see any true happiness in that post? Anyone see anything enthusiastic? Is there anything there at all that doesn't read bland or neutral from Hi IQ? It's an awful blah way for someone to say express how excited they are that N1 turned out so well.
With this in mind, Hi IQ's next post could be a tart bunch of sour grapes.
luck of the Irish must be on our side.
Yes, although that luck of the Irish favored the town. Someone in the scum den might even have said as much while nightfall was happening.... or at least thought it. Change the "their" to "our" real quick and it's an acceptable sentiment to post in the game thread from scum who's got nothing whatsoever to say, yet still feels a need to say something. All Hi IQ had to do was take out the grumbling sarcasm from that thought first and we'd get the message that Hi IQ counts themself on the "town side." Trying to blend in, I could see why scum might try to say something... anything... at that time to suggest they are a townie in our minds.
Now just for comparison sake........ here was O3T's initial reaction. Notice the enthusiasm? O3T managed quite well to hide their real emotions a whole lot better than Hi IQ did.
Sorry to see you go Red but that was a darn good night one! Nice save "doc"!
There's nothing suspicious about that reaction and we know O3T was evil. You might take that as an example, Hi IQ, how better to disguise your disappointment in the future.
