Keeping Robin's off cars?? A Poo Situation...

Not that I've ever priced one, but maybe a car cover would work? You'll only need it for a couple of months so you should get plenty of use out of it. First thing that came to mind after I stopped laughing about them poopin' on the fake owl.
We had a robin that would come to the redbud tree outside the living room window, and proceed to whack his bad self into said window for at least a half hour. Every single morning, promptly at 6AM, rain or shine, from early May straight through the end of June or so. Nesting was done, the little guys were fledged, and the little kamakazi flew off to find fatter worms. We tried hanging things in the window too. My daughters' stuffed animals seemed to REALLY tick him off. Eventually as we were all buzzing around the house getting ready for the day, we'd just wave hello as we walked by the window. Three years in a row. Not at big deal on a weekday. But at 6AM on a Saturday? Not fun. We gave up trying to keep that window clean for most of the summer, and it eventually developed a crack, but I can be sure it was because of rambo bird.
It's just me, but of it's as bad as you say, I'd opt for the cover for a couple of month of the year. Where we live, I can tell the number of small birds in the woods has gone down. No science, you don't have to be a genius to see there's just fewer of 'em. We've got enough feral cats in the woods now that they really are an issue (Feral cats aren't native to NE Pa. forests). If I started to shoot, trap, or move them I would wouldn't be helping the situation. If a bird decides to nest in the tree I was planning on cutting down this spring I wait until the fall.

Yawn. Bird poop is not only destructive but can be a health issue to people, especially here in Arizona when I was talking about pigeons. They are a huge problem.
How "ethical" is it to remove fish from their native habitat and imprison them in glass cages in our home for our amusement? How "ethical" is it to raise animals in cages strictly for a food source. Where do you draw the line?
I am sorry, but when the pigeons are doing the amount of damage they do yearly in my neighborhood, I will take them out it a pellet gun.

Just so everyone knows I'm not exaggerating here is a pic of ONE of the trucks with the bird "damage". I scrubbed this off last night at around 8 pm, right after dinner, and took this picture about an hour ago (3pm). All vehicles have this, but this is the worst one so far today.
put some other mirrors up...? (buy some old mirrors @ a garage sale, put DIY perches in front{just a theory/suggestion})

dude, try an airsoft or paintball gun. They work really nicely when you don't want to kill something but certainly don't want it coming back. Plus they won't do quite as much damage to your door panel as your M1887.
Or, you could build a smallish aviary near your trucks and turn Mr. Fake Owl into M. Live Owl.
Honestly though, polite or not...those birds would be dead by now if that was my car.
P.S. I use a paintball gun to keep pests out of my nets when I'm fishing, works pretty well for driving off stuff even as big as a seals. Doesn't kill anything (most of the time), biodegradable, no poison, effective.

I thought of you today when I went out back with my dog....he always takes off running at any bird he see's, he just hates for them to be on the ground and will run out to the middle of the field even to chase them. So this made me think of you and your bird problem, do you have a dog orcan you borrow one from someone you know?
Yes I have a Miniature Pinscher but she is worthless! lol. She has a seizure disorder so anything that gets her excited, such as chasing a bird, barking at people, etc causes her to have a seizure.
I couldn't borrow any ones dog because my nasty neighbor truly would shoot it if it got on his property! He has shot dogs, cats, one of my dogs, and anything else with 4 legs that gets on his property. He even shot and killed one of my hens that wandered into his garden. I don't know how many times I've called the sheriffs dept. but since I do not actually SEE him fire the gun and the animal die, they will do nothing. I just make sure nothing goes near him and if a stray wanders up now, I immediately take it to the Humane Society. The bad thing is it costs me $35 to drop the animals off but it's a no-kill shelter that I helped establish so I know it's a good place for them.
We have a new idea that we are going to try tomorrow. The bird won't land on the trucks if we are sitting out there. SO...My daughter and I are going to make a dummy/scarecrow tomorrow with old clothes. We still aren't sure what to use for the head, right now I'm leaning towards a pillow case with big "eyes" drawn on it. I am going to put it on some of the lawn furniture next to the trucks and see if that will help. More than likely they will quickly figure there is no threat and continue destruction by poo.

Maybe you could get a manikin (misspelled) head to put on them? Ya know like the ones they use in when learning to cut hair or something like it, I see them in the thrift shops around here sometimes? Then get something with a motion censer on it that would scare them when they do try to land??

Actually...it is bird related. I tripped over the garden hose whilst I was trying to rinse off my husbands work truck! This is the 3rd time I have fractured this wrist. I went to ER tonight, go to my orthopedic doc on Monday.
These birds REALLY have to go...and I am the most un-graceful person ever!! :crazy:
I was actually sitting waiting for the doctor tonight and started laughing out loud. I don't care if this makes me sound cruel, or if people think that I just want to do it for my own "comfort", but I want these birds DEAD!:FIREdevil:
P.S. I still can't figure out how trying to stop thousands of dollars in property damage is considered a "comfort" measure. :irked: And NO, I am not blaming the birds for my clumsiness but I do blame them because they are the reason I was in the situation...grrrr.
P.P.S. Thank you for the suggestion about the manikin head, Lady G!! I think we will go up to the thrift store tomorrow and see. My daughter has promised to lend me a hand in the making of our scarerobin since I am down one.
