My goldfish is pooping A LOT. No, like, really, A LOT.

I'll have to buy veggies now and then for them. :) omnomnomnomnomnom!

LOL!!!

Oh, and algae wafers. Feeding these is tricky with goldies. I turn off all the lights in the room my tanks are in, wait about 2-3 hours, and then drop in 2 algae wafers a night, when there isn't a cucumber slice, that were broken up into 5-6 pieces each as silently as friggen possible- I even have the wafers prepared & waiting in a little dish at the side of the tank (dry, not soaked). Those goldies wake up at NOTHING, and go straight to scavenging. What I put in is probably technically over feeding, but, with a 7" pleco, and 4 snails, a tank full of goldfish who could wake up and eat everything... I want to make sure everyone is getting enough. Namely, the pleco. I don't want him to feel starved, and then start going after the goldies in desperation to snack their slime coats. Sometimes, the goldfish have algae wafer colored poop streamers waiting for me in the morning, but not all the time, and my pleco seems quite happy and content, too, so, it's working ok. I would try doing the same thing with just 1 wafer broken into a few pieces and only 1 day a week, or so, & see how it goes. You don't have to do that until the poo extravaganza is finished, though.

PLEASE also let me know if your snails eat the goldfish poop, or if I just happen to have a tank full of ones who are a little bit freaky. Not that I'm complaining-helping to keep a clean tank is always a good thing in my books!

Sneak attack! haha.

On a different note...I think one of my snails is dead? All the snails in the tank at Petco were hanging out in their shells, so I just told him to grab 2. They stayed in their shells until they went in the tank, and after 10 minutes or so, one came out and is wandering around...the other is still in there where I put him in.....he's been in there for about 3 hours.

Oh and I will let you know if I see slurping up poop like it's spaghetti. :P

Not necessarily- that isn't uncommon when they are introduced to a new tank... one of the best ways to tell is if he is laying in 1 spot for a long time (like more than a day), if the hatch is shut, he is probably alive. If it is open, and the snail is falling out while still not moving, probably dead. If he goes for more than a day with zero movement, take him out & give him a look to see if he's dead. (from what I understand, they REALLY stink. I've only had 1 die, and the others emptied the shell before I even saw a dead one, so I'm not sure about this.)... I'm almost willing to bet just scared, hiding, and waiting for the light to go out. They can be kind of shy for the first week in a new environment.

YAY! I hope he's not dead....I'll check on him again in a while. :)

Alright...night night time for fishies....time to stalk the snail.

IT'S ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! :woot:

Quite the speedy little guy too, for a snail. Made it from one side of the tank to the other, going over a mountain in 15 minutes. Perked right up after the light was off for 5 minutes. Now he's omnom-ing my glass. Kinda cool to see his little mouth working. He has been dubbed Mordin. His friend is Koopa.

I have a snail in my piranha tank and he chills on the glass never seen him eat anything on the bottom he just keeps the glass clean. Also be careful with algeae waffers if you give too much your water will turn a murky green. Honestly I don't feed my guy any extras and he's still cruising.

Yaaaay! Glad to hear he's ok. Yeah, they can get going kinda quick. I think mine are tons of fun. Give it a couple of days, and he'll be out & about all day long. Funny names, too!

How's the poo situation going?
